Though it is a tad early to pick our pears normally, they are starting to fall of the tree so I had no other choice but to pick them. I ended up with 6,9 kilos of pears! Not bad for a cheap tree from Aldi.
I also wanted to practice airlayering so several months ago I started to practice on some offshoots of the pear tree. Some I wrapped with plastic only, the others also had those ball-shaped fanta bottles. Today I saw that the plastic from one of those offshoots had ripped but look at what was inside!
So many roots! Gives me hope for the other offshoots which I was only planning on cutting end of september. I potted this one up. I know it is probably sterile since it is an offshoot and it could be another tree entirely because of grafting for commercial fruit trees but I am emotionally attached to my first airlayering trees okay!? Next year gonna try it with a branch of the pear and apple tree!
I´ll try to make an airlayering post after I have removed the fanta-bottle ones!
Bonus early apple!
