An Alebrije to celebrate the Mexican Independence Day, our Flag and the origin of my hometown, Mexico City.

An abridged version of the story behind the eagle: the Aztecs went on a 200 year pilgrimage to find a sign from the god Huitzilopochtli. The god of War and the Sun. After picking battles with p much everyone they came across, they found it in the Valley of Anahuac. An eagle devouring a snake on a hill in the middle of Lake Texcoco. And so they built the city of Tenochtitlan on top the Lake.
