Welcome back to my blog.
I hope you all have been coping well with this weather. As we all know, the year is coming to an end. It was a good year for me, And if you’re reading this, it means you’re alive and you made it through the year, that means i can also conclude that the year wasn’t so bad for you.
The above image reminds me of how the year treated me. The different colors in the image explains the ups and downs I went through. I had some sad moments like losing friends along the line, There were joyful moments too, like when I got to leave my home country, Nigeria, for the first time. There were other “in-between” moments as well like having to work so hard to be that woman I wish to become. The picture just has a way of reminding me of the different mood I experienced this year.
Despite everything you may have gone through guys, get yourself a glass of wine, just as it is, in this picture, and le’ts cheer to new beginnings, happiness, a joyous new year, and a happy Christmas!!

First things first: yes, the movie is much better than the book. So much so, it is one of my all time favourite films. The story differs in the book and the script. The latter is much better. So, glad that got out of the way. Author Peter Mayle acknowledges that it was filmmaker Ridley Scott's nose for a good story that inspired the book. For a filmmaker who has won accolades for heavyweight films like Gladiator, Blade Runner, this movie is a surprise. He was vacationing in his château in France, Peter Mayle was his author, and perhaps they both got together and had wine and decided this story must be told. I'm glad they did. Great lessons come out of this book: even great windfall gains can come out of an unfortunate event, sometimes people are better than your opinion of them and there's more to life than the pursuit of greed. Russell Crowe plays the part of the protagonist, Max Skinner, to perfection. There are nuances to his character: a forgotten child who spent the best memories of his life in a château he now wants to sell. He hates his Uncle Henry but he can't deny the love he received from him. The contradictions of human behavior are beautifully captured. The author celebrates France, it's culture and people, in every word. If you're looking for a charming, warm, short read that celebrates the simple pleasures of country and wine, this is the book for you. We all need a a few pick-me-ups, don't we? Then this book and film are prescribed for you. My tip? Pick up a glass of 🍷and read it.
