From January 29th to 31st, UCBMUN made the short trek to Sacramento to participate in AggieMUN, hosted by University of California, Davis! Starting off the Spring 2016 season with a bang, AggieMUN was a jam-packed weekend of fun and debate, ending with an Outstanding Large Delegation award for UCBMUN.
In the shadow of the California State Capitol building, delegates participated in all five of the conference’s committees, ranging from discussing the role of UN peacekeeping in SPECPOL to responding to a futuristic public health crisis in the US Pandemic Response Council, 2030.
In addition to debating, plenty of good times and bonding wer had by all, ranging from the roadtrip to the Saturday night social in downtown Sacramento!
Highlights of the Weekend
“Conference was a stellar time! Committee ran incredibly smooth and after hours our team had a blast out dancing every other delegation. I spent a lot of time getting to know our delegates (new and old) even more which was easily the sweetest reward.” - Nathan Black

“Favorite parts of the weekend are three: Playing Contact during the car ride up with Zubin, Ananya, Varsha, and Or-el (the inside jokes that arose from it were both legion and hilarious), getting to share my family's tequila (Casa Baluarte) with some of the MUN crowd, and El Chapo's increasingly paranoid speeches in my 'Plata o Plomo' committee.” - Gustavo De Leon
“Ok really, my favorite part of conference was getting to compete against some killer UCBMUN people. Keenu, Zubin, and Shasun, you guys are amazing delegates, and it was an honor working with you. Also I loved the car ride to the hotel, because I haven't really hung out with Or-el, Ananya, and Zubin (and ofc Gustavo) that much, and I feel like we really bonded over some interesting conversation” - Varsha Venkatasubramanian

My most memorable moments were the heated games of contact played in the car, the chaos leading up to the social and aggressively debating the extremely important topic of whether or not we should merge resolutions in committee (jokes).
