There is some justice in this world after all…??!?!?

Thoughts on Matt Braly & Rebecca Sugar's canceled Sony Animation feature getting unexpectedly revived by another studio?
Didn't expect to hear about this film again after Matt announced its cancelation, so the news surprised me...
It's definitely a hopeful sign regarding animation projects that fell through the cracks and got canned and if they may one day see the light of day. I think Matt got lucky in that Sony, while owning the project, was maybe willing to part with it and the studio that took it on is interested with some idea and plan for it. Plus, I think Matt's name recognition and influence also plays a factor.
Unlike Alex Hirsch who probably has to be quiet for legal reasons about his show's problems, Matt likely didn't have any contractual obligation to be so when this fell apart and so, he was vocal and used his platform to likely get the eyes that needed to be on this the attention.
I think now it's a case of seeing what will happen, as even this deal isn't concrete. It still as Matt said, needs to be funded and hopefully can be given it's tied to a tried and true name like his. So, we'll have to see. But overall IMO, this is a good sign for the future of other projects like this if the stars align and the original network is okay with parting with it, a new one believes in it and funding is found. It's a hard holy trinity to acquire, but Matt has done it...hopefully!
WE ARE IN THE PROCESS OF WINNING CHAT!!!!! MAKE BUZZ AND SHIT WE ARE SO FUCKING BACK
Congrats to Matt Braly!
If "Afterworld" si successful, I'm curious how it'd affect the future of Thai animation, as well as if it'd affect western studios using SEA leads more in animation (and media in general). I made a post tracking that, and most Asian leads in western films are East Asian. Also noticed that most of the Asian-led films have a female lead. I guess that's the Disney effect. Hopefully it gets funding at the Annecy Festival! Maybe eventually we can an SEA musical similar to other cultures that have gotten iconic musicals.
