Working for Fisk was far from a picnic, but Jess hadnât expected it to be. There were more than enough people who burst into the party and had to be casually removed, either with Jess giving the order to the boys at the door or dealing with it herself, a finger hooked into the troublemakerâs collar allowing her to literally throw them out on the street. On the whole, though, it seemed to be going pretty well â at least until Jess finally met the gaze of a person that had been watching her for a few beats too long across the crowd.
She made her way through the people, a smile on her face as she walked towards them. âIn my experience, someone looking like that only means one of two things,â Jess said, in place of greeting. âEither youâre here for a good time, or youâre here to make trouble. Iâm not a glorified babysitter, but if itâs the second optionâŚâ
