While I was back east, most of my plants decided to call it quits. Husband was trying to keep up with them, but they just all went, “ehhh, nah bro.” He felt really bad about it, but oh well, it happens.
I went to clean out the herb garden and noticed the Thai basil had new green shoots. So when I cleaned it out, I did my best to keep its roots, washing them off a little, and replanted the rest of the spots with what I had (Genovese basil, thyme, Italian parsley x2, and rosemary).
It...has come back like gangbusters. It’s like a little bush as everything else is just starting to sprout. I had to trim it today, since I don’t want to raise the light until the other plants have sprouted enough to warrant it. The Genovese basil has shot up and is showing some bigger leaves already. I had to take the dome off the thyme today as one of its sprouts was pressing against it. The parsley plantings are just starting, so it’ll be like, a week or so on those. I don’t know about the rosemary; I think this may be one of the pods I tried to use before that didn’t sprout at all. So well, at least it’s acting like a plug on that spot, even if it doesn’t sprout.
I also ordered more seed pods, since we’re not going to do tomatoes again. I got dill, cilantro, chives, sage, oregano, and marjoram as a custom kit, then an “international basil” 9-pod kit and a rosemary 9-pod kit. I figure at least one of those 9 pods of rosemary should sprout. :-P I already have Thai and Genovese basil in one garden; with the international basil kit, I could legitimately have six more varieties of basil in one garden (marseille, globe, purple, lemon, napolitano, and lime), and then all the other herbs in the third garden.
