The dangers and advantages of social network parenting
I remember when Facebook was brand new and the world was so excited about finally having a good social network. MySpace had become obsolete, except for those few Indie Musicians that kept it alive, and Xanga was not heard from again. Mark Zuckerberg became a household name, and boasted a digital conquest that rivaled Alexander the Great. Facebook became the third most populatedâŠ

Music and Productivity
Many people listen to music at work but not everyone knows that this could actually help increase productivity and boost morale. Research done by Musicworks shows that one third of workers are less likely to take time off when music is played and that 77% feel an increase in work ethic and positivity. Everyone enjoys listening to music to put them in a better mood but it also can increase productivity.
Many factories and offices allow and even encourage background music during work hours. 87% of respondents to Musicworks study reported feeling more motivated and happier while music was playing. Work-rate and productivity also substantially increased while workers listened to music. 65% of business owners have found that music helps boost productivity by taking peoples mind off of repetitive tasks.

Step Forward IF...
Last week, my professee in inter cultural communications planned an activity in which he would read a statement and then say if it was true/false for your life take a step forward/backward. This activity was to depict our âlife advantagesâ according to the play Pygmallion by George Bernard Shaw (ya know, he one where the old white dudes try to teach the flower girl to be a proper lady). Ouch. The first question began, and the game was on. âTake a step forward if youâve ever gotten a good job because of family connectionsâ. I, along with two others out of the class, took a step forward. UhmâŠ. He continued. âTake a step forward if youâve never had to rely on public transportation to get to/from your destination.â Oh, there I go again, with just a few other students. Okay, officially awkward. Game over? Nope. He continued. âTake a step backwards if youâve ever had your power shut off because your family couldnât pay the billâ. Guess what? I stayed there. And most of the class took a step backwards. A few students, including myself, were way ahead of the rest of the class. Are they lying? Thereâs no way. He continued. âTake a step backward if you have ever skipped a meal because your family couldnât afford to buy groceries.â Oh. My. God. Most of the class, including some of the people way up ahead with me, shamefully took a step backward. Can you say, intense? He continued. Will this game ever end?! âTake a step forward if your family takes nice vacations more than twice a year. â up I go⊠This carried on for another ten minutes or so. I couldnât believe it. All this time, I complain about what I donât have. About my parents being mean or my siblings wonât leave me alone. This activity was a shock. I mean, Iâm not ingnorant enough to think people out there arent less fortunate than I am but I didnât think it would be these people. Most of the people I come into contact with each and every day and Iâd never guess that their lives are any different than mine. Be grateful. For everything. There are so many advantages that some of us have, that others will never know. Give when you can- money, food, an encouraging word. Every little bit counts.
