okay but forwards beckon rebound means much more to me than a break up song i feel like the other person IS the same as the one singing, and its like a song of loneliness, recognization, and self forgiveness. i get a sense of nostalgia, or melancholy when i listen; yet it also feels peaceful. my brain quiets down, partly due to the melody. “villain and violent, infant and innocent; baby both arms cradle you now, both arms cradle you now;” is so powerful to me because i feel like it embodies the feeling of growing into someone jaded; someone you dont like; yet reminding yourself that you werent born like that—self reflection. the “baby both arms cradle you now, both arms cradle you now,” feels like going back and giving that little one a hug. or hugging the present version—or one of the past that you dislike, the hard and tough person that you changed into out of necessity. giving them a hug, almost hiding them from the world; a sense of forgiveness.
