If it was just the leg that I lost it wouldn’t be as long journey as it has been. I managed to break my arms, and had compartment syndrome in the arms resulting in some loss of feeling in my left wrist, some decent screws holding me together and some more skin grafts. When I discovered aerial, it was the first time in my life where I felt something made sense. If I was having a bad day it all disappeared while I was in the air because I was so focused on what I was doing and how I was feeling I forgot where I was. I realised a few years later that aerial actually cleared my mind of any thought just like meditation and that you don’t have to sit still in order to experience it. . As there are so many ways you can meditate, what you need to remember is that if one way does not work for you it doesn’t mean it is hopeless. Sometimes you just need to find the thing that resonates with YOU. Like for instance, I love movement meditation because I enjoy moving my body without thought, still with breathe but it has a very different outcome. As much as it clears my mind, it helps me to focus on what I need: to experience my body without anything holding me back and this allows me to discover new things about myself and what I am capable of. It empowers me and gives me a sense of belonging... something that can be missing from all of our lives. . Recently I helped two university students @marcy_muffins with an assignment about occupational therapy and took some photos that are up at Griffith University.
