He froze like a deer caught in the headlights of an oncoming truck when he caught sight of Adam in the bedroom doorway through the full-length mirror they kept in a corner.
 Some scars took a while to bleed through enough to be visible on his vessel but these? They had marked the flesh with six massive, ragged gashes paralleling his spine almost instantly and he hated it. He hated the visual reminder of what he had lost. Logically he knew he couldnât keep the scars hidden from Adam forever, but that didnât mean he was ready to show them yet.Â
His eyes fell shut and his jaw clenched tight as he felt Adams stare weigh heavily on him. It was already too late to turn, to pretend nothing was wrong, to hide from the painful truth for a while longer. He wanted to, he really did, but it was just too late. Unable to form words he simply sat there, half dressed on the edge of the bed and breathing heavily, waiting for Adam to break the silence.
