hello! if you don't mind me asking... can you explain on invokers a bit more? like what they do and stuff like that.
Hi, anon I don't mind, but I'm kind of unsure what you meant by what they do and stuff. Here's a short explanation, though!
Previously, before the rewrite of this story, Abyssal Depths' lore is not really fleshed out. I winged it as I wrote every chapter (disadvantages of a young and excited teenager, ha ha). Now, due to some future plans, I decided to expound the lore and make it cohesive. To answer your question, Invoker is not a race, but rather one of the two categories of those who can use aether, or in simpler words, mages. The other one is called a Resonator. Invokers can channel their aether as an external force, so you can think of them as those mages who can conjure their signature elements or manipulate the physical world. Meanwhile, Resonators channel their magic inwards, which can either affect themselves or other people/objects, like healers and enchanters.
However, Resonators won't be discussed too much in this book. The continent of Zandria has been in the state of resisting those who can use magic for a hundred years or so, and they have closed their gates to the other continents due to the fact that the rest of them are born with that aetheric ability. Zandria will always be the home to humans, but they have co-existed with a small number of Invokers since the beginning of times.
So, that's it! Hopefully, I answered your question. The lore's a bit big right now due to, like I said, future plans (maybe a sequel or other stories in the same universe). I'm thinking about posting codex entries to help with understanding the lore in order to prevent dumping too many infos in the game itself. If there are any more questions, feel free to use the ask box! I'll try to answer without putting spoilers as much as I can. ( ´・∀・`)
