Today we’re going to explore the history of Action Park.

Any facts about the Akira Slide?
The Akira Slide, popular in meme videos of a police officer sliding down it too fast, was a metal slide in Boston. Like the action anime film "Akira" it was known for its high acceleration and brutal ending. Also like the film Akira, it was painstakingly created by hundreds of skilled animators over several years. Animators do not normally construct public works, but these were the animators who animated Ralph Bakshi films, and that was illegal at the time so they had lots of community service to do as they were sentenced per frame.
The slide was deconstructed after several injuries, then moved to Action Park, where it was reassembled and remained in use causing several hundred more, even worse injuries. It stayed popular until the park's closure when some red-jacketed gang member skidded into it on his motorcycle with a really cool move.
Action Park is an interesting bit of history because some guy in new jersey sat down and went "i'm going to make a waterpark that hurts people" and then people flocked there to prove they could withstand the waterpark that hurts people
