They're elaborate so they look impressive. They require rare ingredients so you'll buy books, visit shops, order online. They make witchcraft seem like it requires a full pantry of expensive supplies.
But the most powerful magic humans have ever done was performed with NOTHING. Or with whatever was immediately available. Because magic isn't in the ingredients—it's in YOU.
Let's talk about rituals you can do right now, exactly where you are, with absolutely nothing but yourself.
The Foundation: You Are the Tool
Before we get into specific rituals, understand this:

Stand and face East
Point your finger (or just your attention) and slowly turn in a complete circle

Imagine standing under a waterfall of pure white light
Feel it pouring over you, washing away all negativity, stress, heaviness
See it all washing down and away, absorbed harmlessly by the earth
Stand in this shower until you feel clean

Why it works: Your body responds to visualization similarly to real experience. The cleansing is real even if the water isn't.
The Shake-Off
Stand up
Literally shake your body—arms, legs, torso, head (gently)
Shake for 30-60 seconds
As you shake, intend that you're shaking off all stuck energy, negativity, stress
When you stop, feel lighter
Stamp your feet to ground
Why it works: Physical movement releases stuck energy. This is somatic therapy + magical intention.
The Grounding Drain
Sit or stand, feet flat on floor
Visualize roots growing from your feet deep into the earth
Imagine any negativity, stress, or unwanted energy draining down through those roots

The Spoken Intention
Speak your intention out loud, clearly and specifically
Say it in present tense as if it's already true: "I am confident" not "I will be confident"
Say it with conviction (fake it if necessary)

Speak it into reality

Think of something you want to manifest
Now generate the feeling of intense gratitude AS IF you already have it

The Reversal Breath
For sending back negative energy someone sent to you:
Breathe in, gathering their negative energy

Let yourself cry/feel it for 60 seconds (set a timer if it helps to know it's bounded)
As you cry/feel, visualize the grief leaving your body as water or smoke
After 60 seconds (or when it naturally ends), take three deep breaths
Wash your face if you can
You just processed and released some of the grief
Why it works: Grief needs release. Creating a ritual around it makes the release more complete and honors the feeling.
Why This Matters
You might be reading this thinking, "But I want the candles and the herbs and the tools. That's part of what makes it feel special."
And that's valid! Tools are great. Aesthetics matter. Physical items help focus intention.
But you should never feel like you can't practice because you lack supplies.
You should never feel like a "lesser" witch because you can't afford ingredients.
You should never let a shopping list stop you from doing magic.
The witch who practices with nothing but their body and will is just as powerful—often MORE powerful—than the witch surrounded by expensive tools.
Because they know where the real magic lives: in them.
Tools amplify. But YOU are the source.
Start here. Start with what you have, which is yourself.
Learn these rituals. Practice them. Prove to yourself that you don't need anything external to be magical.
And then, if you want, add the tools. But you'll add them knowing they're optional enhancements, not requirements.
