Being an adult is no fun
Yesterday it was 90 degrees here, in April. GROSS. But of course what happens on one of the hottest days we’ve had thus far? My main AC window unit decides to crap out. The thing was ancient and was in my window already installed when I bought the house in 2015. It worked so no reason to replace it before then. And luckily my townhome keeps cool in the summer with just the one large unit on my ground floor. But of course yesterday it decides it’s going to trip the breaker for that outlet every time the condenser kicked on. After fussing with it I realized that the condenser was clearly overloading it and in order to get it working I’d have to take it out of the window and CLEAN IT. If you’ve ever had one of these, it was over 100 pounds (24,000 BTU unit) and doing that would have taken so much time and also could possibly result in me having to replace it anyway. So, I decided I had to replace it. It took me and my ex HOURS to get it out of the window and find a new one. I had to plunk down $600 but after like... 5 hours we finally got the new one installed & it’s running beautifully. But holy hell that isn’t a fun process to have to do when it’s sweltering. Luckily my indoor temp only got to like 78 degrees but for me that’s way too warm.
So, to sum it up, being an adult is absolutely lame and I do not recommend it.
