A recent purchase of one of my old Abstract Placings sparked something: over the last year, I have been moving away from found objects, and more towards traditional mediums like paint. Key word: traditional. - I realized that as much as I enjoy pure painting, my heart lies in objects and their stories. Iād left them because I thought I needed to create in what was a more ārespectableā medium, one that is ātaken seriously.ā - There are a whole bunch of layers involved in those words, which Iāll leave aside for now, but what I needed was that one flicker of outside interest, to send the fire back deep from my toes. And it feels damn good. ā- Please, let me know in the comments below: What are you making because you think you should? What would you create, what would you use, if that voice that says to make respectable things, to be seen as a ārealā artist, was suddenly silent? What really drives you? - Thatās where your truth lies. Thatās what you need to show us, and yourself. - - āClocking Outā Objects found on 12/12/2021 12ā x 12ā Part of the *Gold Series* of Abstract Placings (2nd picture - Abstract Placing from 2018 recently sold: āNext Stepsā) - #theartofeverything #TaoE #pdxartist #abstractplacing #abstractarrangement #foundobjectcollage #foundobjectart (at Portland, Oregon) https://www.instagram.com/p/CXfkrevL9pu/?utm_medium=tumblr
