Hehe thank you so much :D Lee is one of the OCs I connect the most with and I love talking about him
Uncommon Questions for OCs and Their Creators
10. What lie do they most frequently remember telling? Does it haunt them?
This is very emo and cliche but the most frequent lie Leon tells is something along the lines of "I'm fine." Listen he's allergic to talking about his feelings and most people won't press after his answer, so no harm done, right?
Definitely won't lead to festering anger and resentment over various perfectly solvable issues...
28. Would they prefer a lie over an unpleasant truth?
In general, Leon prefers the truth. His magic developed to the point where he can always tell when someone is lying to him, no matter how good they are at hiding it - but there are times when he wishes he didn't automatically know someone lied to him, times when he would have much preferred a lie over the truth, like when Alec died.
31. Who are they the most glad to have met?
Of course, he'll say he's glad to have met all of his friends, Jamil, Camia, and Alec. But the one he's most glad for is definitely Jamil. Without his kindness and ability to see more in Leon and give him a second chance, Leon knows he would have stayed and probably died on the streets of the town he was abandoned in, angry and afraid and alone.
Jamil looked past the feral teenager who tried to kill him and saw someone worth helping, and Leon will always love him for it <3
I have so many thoughts about Leon Kennedy as a character, about how his past and his trauma have shaped him, his perspective and personality. Brace yourselves because this is gonna be a ramble.
Bear in mind I haven't played the OG games but I have read some of the lore and watched a few cutscenes here and there to gain a little more context.
One thing I noticed was that Leon's parents were involved in organized crime, and were murdered as a result of that. There was a cop who looked after him and helped him, and I firmly believe that was the start of the idealized view of law enforcement that he held before reality set in after Racoon City.
I also think this incident was the birth of one of his defining characteristics as an adult, his driving need to save people, to help them. Being a small child forced to watch helplessly while his family was gunned down, wanting desperately to save them but being unable to, had to have been horrifying on so many levels. And then the police officer came in, offering comfort and kindness and probably some sense of safety, and so Leon grew up associating those positive things with what he later discovers is a deeply corrupt institution. He wanted to be that sense of comfort and safety for others who have been victimized, that light in the darkness. He still does; that part hasn't changed.
All of this is one reason why I really, really wish the remakes had included some interactions between Leon and Chief Irons, showing that moment of realization, the moment when his idealism began to crack. Leon's horror upon realizing he would have been working for a monster. Questioning himself, wondering how deep that rot in the system went, if it would eventually infect him too.
I do believe he has spent a lot of time asking himself these questions after Racoon City, after being forcibly recruited by the government. He's now a part of that system, after all. Doing its dirty work. A good little killer. A good little toy soldier.
He still clings to some of his ideals. He's doing this to help people. To protect them. Hell, he said yes to the "offer" to protect an innocent child that he had known for a day. His own safety doesn't matter to him as much, his own comfort, his own needs.
Leon S. Kennedy believes he is disposable. He's a weapon, a fighter, a killer, a protector. He hasn't died for his duty, not yet, but he sacrifices his life to it, every single day.
Destroying bioweapons, fighting against the corporate war machines that are sowing chaos and violence into the world, shielding the world as much as he can from the horrors he faces daily-- he tells himself that it must be worth it. Worth it to keep going. Worth it to keep fighting.
He saves somebody, sometimes. That's worth it. It's worth it.
But still, in his quiet, solitary moments as he loses himself in the haze of alcohol, he's not sure how long he can keep going like this.

OOC: Leon has never participated in Pokemon Contests but he’s heard of them taking place in other regions. It kinda reminds him of how hyped-up the Gym Challenge is in Galar considering the glitz and glamour involved. He also thinks it’s a fun challenge since it recognizes the beauty of Pokemon and their special moves, too!
I can definitely see Leon trying out a couple Pokemon Contests post-Champion reign. Especially if he didn’t become the Chairman of Galar’s Pokemon League in a verse or maybe he took some time off to try it out before eventually becoming Chairman.
