Mordor holds little to no good memories for Bruce. He'd spent most of his days in the fighting pits and most of his nights licking his wounds. The first major respite from it all came in the form of an Easterling scholar, Maliku-- Bruce's first friend and the catalyst for his leaving Mordor.

Your heart is very lonely, isn’t it? Is your fortress of ice self-made? Are others afraid of you, or are you afraid of them? Are you afraid of hurting them, or of being hurt? Vulnerability and connection can be frightening, but that’s no reason to shy away from their light, to tuck yourself small into corners, to build up frigid walls to keep yourself from feeling. You will heal when you allow yourself to draw closer to the flames and thaw.

[ ⚓ ]ㅤ.ㅤwhat does “home” mean to them ?

Home, as a place, would always mean the Great Barrier Reef. Bruce was born and raised there: the shallower areas acting as a nursery for younger pups of his kind. But unlike other great white pups who went on their own or traveled with others of their same age group, Bruce followed his mother after his birth.

Against Adria's better judgment, she raised her pup as best she could, and for awhile, Bruce's home was with his mother. Then humans came and captured her, and Bruce's concept of home returned to just a place. And despite the millions of fish living in the reef, that place felt empty to the young pup.

[ 🖐️ ]ㅤ.ㅤwhat do their hands feel like: soft, calloused, trembling ?

Bruce's massive clawed hands are largely calloused and scarred from his days in the fighting pits and walking on all fours. Unlike human hands, Bruce's hands have more padding to help with shock-absorption when galloping at high speeds.

Despite both his enormity and sharp claws, he can still be rather gentle when the situation requires it.

[ 🗡️ ]ㅤ.ㅤwhat is a scar that they have but never talk about ?

Oddly enough, Bruce doesn't have any scars that he's necessarily afraid to talk about. Perhaps the one he'd feel most ashamed about would be any that involved his former life as a predator (i.e. result of prey defending themselves), such as the number-four-shaped scar on his snout from the claws of a sea lion.

[ 🫳 ]ㅤ.ㅤwho do they feel they owe, but never paid back ?

Pomni was the first to welcome Bruce to the circus, in a slow and gentle way that allowed for him to process his current fate. If it wasn’t for her, he might have abstracted that very night.

Gangle helped Bruce remember his name. Because Bruce’s code was different — i.e. he wasn’t always human, he was a shark before, and therefore different from other ‘players’, he remembered the very beginning of his name and Gangle helped Bruce remember the rest.

As of now, Bruce feels in debt to them both.

Bruce had always been close with Dory, before becoming human and thereafter. He does love sharing Dory’s jokes and witty comebacks— even if she didn’t remember them at the time.

Home— true home— would always mean the ocean to Bruce. He’d spent more years as a shark than a human, and the big blue would always seem to call him back. Even as a human, if he spent a little too far away from the sight of the sea, Bruce would get severely homesick.

When Bruce was just an Olog pup, he was taken from the wilds by a pack of Orcs and brought to Mordor. Many years later, he escapes Mordor to find his people, the wild Olog-hai of Mirkwood. However, decades later, he finds that he’s grown too different from his own kind and fails to find his place in the herd.
