Avid and Chronic Illness
As someone who suffers with illness and chronic pain it's really intresting how much it affects Avid and his motivations.
In the begining of episode six he mentions not wanting to feed as he doesn't want to become more of a vampire, but as soon as he does he starts keeping his hunger at full, he feels good. I can't remeber the last time I felt ok physically maybe never, I've always hurt and maybe thats a blessing compared to knowing what it feels like to not hurt. Avid remebers being fine he has been in pain for years. He has felt his own body and mind turn against him. He has dwelt with the patronizing comments of people saying its not a big deal.
But now he's fine, being a vampires made him not hurt. He no longer has to spend everyday thinking about what he is going to do to deal with it. He no longer has to deal with people trying to fix him and failing.
And if he stops being a vampire it all comes back.
And he feels betrayed he's panicing he thinks he got a person who trusted him killed all his friends are vampires and he's scared.
Everytime he brings up why he did it people tell him its not a good reason. It seems like everyone preffered when he was suffering than when he's not.
To be clear avid is not doing well by any stretch of the imangiation.
But he no long hurts, he no longer has to worry about how much longer he has, or whether or not he's overexgeratting, or how much help can he ask for before he's left behind.
So he's a vampire now and he has to be because even if there was a cure it could undo all of this. And were would he be back where he started
