Reason number 51867 why I love abc’s speechless: typical sitcom trope of “husband forgets about valentine’s day and scrambles to get a last minute gift for wife” is completely turned on its head to “wife has to tell husband not to overspend on valentine’s day because money’s tight but he loves her/the holiday so much that for the entire episode he is resisting the urge to shower her with gifts anyway”

Me? Still bitter about ABC’s Speechless being canceled? It’s more likely than you think

Guys show some love for ABC's Speechless. It not only shines a light on a lot of struggles that are in the daily life of people with disabilities but it manages to keep it fun and entertaining. I see people on here talking about how there needs to be more representation and here's your chance to try to keep a show that does an amazing job.

How do I tell the Speechless writers that they do a great job but they NEED to word a few things just a bit differently, and I, a fully qualified disabled person with almost a decade's experience in the community, am the person they should hire to review their scripts for next to nothing?
