I've decided to retire "🇺🇸!!!" from this blog's tagline. (Woe be upon this blog, this one's about politics!)
Recently, I've been wondering about my connection to patriotism. Is it still something that's worthwhile to do?... The thought was that lots of terrible things are currently and have consistently been done under the banner of the American flag. In particular, I wondered two things: one, what the families of the victims of those atrocities would say about their spouses and children being taken from them, and two, to what extent those opinions should be considered when the choice is made to be patriotic.
I decided to take this to a friend of mine--one who I knew to be a patriot, and among the more reasonable ones at that--and I asked them those two questions. They were in agreement with me about how the families' victims would respond emotionally, but when I presented the second point, they almost immediately shut down. Their ultimate argument in favor of patriotism when I brought that up was, "All the amenities and privileges you experience now, you can thank your country for. Your comfort depends on your ability to remain indifferent to the murder of children". This is, as far as I have heard, the strongest argument made by actual existing American patriots. No thanks!!! (・–・;)ゞ

how experienced are the ROs with relationships (whether casual or serious)?
Let's see...
• Abbie's had her fair share of steady-ish relationships but breaks up with whoever she's dating as soon as she gets the feeling the other woman wants to get truly serious. None of her girlfriends liked you, by the by. No one knows why...
• Irene gets ahead of herself and thinks a date equals a relationship but she's never been in a serious one even if she'll claim otherwise. Things usually go downhill when it comes to sex because she hasn't had bottom surgery and is very insecure about how that'll be received.
• Joanna. Serial dater, always casual. Never stayed put anywhere long enough to have a steady relationship but is still friends with a lot of women she's been with. Hope your MC is okay with that LOL
• Vega sleeps around a loooot more than people think but is very hush-hush about it. Not the kiss-and-tell type but she does have the libido of the 20-year-old she is. Serious relationship counter is 0 which is why I chose to block romance if your MC is in her late 30s or early 40s. Feels even ickier than it would in this instance.
• Margot's not built for casual, she could honestly fall into the demi category. She's had 2 serious relationships that ended because her exes didn't want kids, which is why she now asks about this on first dates in spite of it being jarring for whoever she's going out with. She's not getting any younger so she's done wasting time.
• Dawn would have dated casually more often if people who are casual about dating weren't mostly interested in getting laid. Asexual as she is, casual didn't work for her. Her wife was the first person to ever agree to date her casually and as you can see it went well.
Playing the MINDWAVE Demo on Steam these days is a unique kind of torment, as I recently have found out.
I wonder, is there something particularly unstable about myself? I like to keep a very well-kept record of how many people are me online, and the count, as far as I know, has dropped from six, down to just two (including myself!)... It makes me wonder if there's some aspect of who I am that makes me particularly volatile to be? (ー_ー゛)
Plus, I'm the only me around that I know is publicly, well, myself to some extent! I've never seen somebody in public and had to double-take because she was in overalls and with striped a shirt and socks, but I have had people noticeably clock me...! Maybe I and every other me is The Abbie, who knows?
