It just hit me (again) that Grell only claims to know who killed Ciel’s parents in the anime version, not the manga.
And of course, my brain serves me this idea right before the new chapter comes out.
Yana knows exactly what the original anime added. She probably isn't going to suddenly make Grell's anime knowledge canon, but she is the type to weaponize fan memory.
It would be very much her style to have Ciel realize the Reapers possess the records, echoing the same realization anime fans had years ago and transforming an old anime-only concept into a key manga endgame reveal.
