in the dream that night bog ilya appears and is desperately trying to get dream Shane’s pants off which terrifies him but also turns him on , which bog ilya notices and decides to give up on trying to get to the necklace (which was why dream ilya was desperately clawing at Shane’s pants , he needs the necklace for some sort of supernatural reason idk)

shane wakes up from the wet nightmare it’s not until he’s taking off his pants to clean up does he realise he has the necklace

cue anxiety spiral about returning the necklace and his place on the research team , the dream visit from bog ilya that he had and wants to have again , and maybe helping ilya with [whatever supernatural stuff my brain is making up] . so they have an excuse to spend time together (and fuck) (same thing) <- also I’m just realising this would just be shane trying to spend time with an inanimate bog body . and like . defiling it . i was too immersed in shane pov for a second there i was like awww theyll go on dates <3 and its just shane breaking into a secure research area to put corpse parts in his mouth . okay #romance

ugh i love the idea of shane being supernaturally linked to ilya. like maybe he took the necklace for a reason that he doesnt even understand yet. and he's the one who is meant to help ilya's soul finally cross over.

i've been bouncing the idea of shane developing sleepwalking problems around in my head a lot. like he's constantly waking up after his sex nightmares next to the body. and then when he does eventually have to leave russia for canada he's waking up in random bodies of water even miles from his house. so he has to do some sleep studies (they dont let him wear the necklace which he has taken up wearing) and nothing happens during any of the studies. he goes to a psychiatrist and therapist but is too scared/guilty to actually admit what is going on.
