Avery had been brought to St. John's the night before and quickly was taken to the ICU. She had yet to wake up, but the machines were continuing to beep steadily. She felt the pressure in her chest as the ventilator pushed air into her lungs, and her fingers started to move slowly. Her eyes struggled to open, but when they finally did the beeping increased. She could feel herself starting to panic and tried to make sense of what she was seeing and what was happening. Her eyes moved around the room quickly and landed on the man at her bedside. She needed answers, but she didn't know how to ask for them.

Avery wasn't sure how Neo would feel about her visiting him in the hospital, but she wanted to make sure he was okay. Getting shot in the thigh wouldn't be an easy recovery. She knocked on the doorframe and stepped inside with a smile. "Hope I'm not bothering you." She held up a take out container from one of the local Italian restaurants. "I brought you something to eat."

The flower shop was the best way to make herself feel better after a large unplanned purchase. The new phone wasn't something she had been expecting to waste money on, but it was necessary after she lost hers trying to escape the gala. She tapped the screen a few times and sighed before looking at Brooklyn. "Do you remember what those flowers at the shop was? I thought they were pretty, but I didn't take a photo like I thought I did."

The gala wasn't a place Avery could see herself attending most days, but it seemed everyone had decided to make an appearance to see what the fuss was about. The text made her nervous, but it was good to see so many making an effort for charity. "I'm surprised so many people made it, aren't you?" She asked and looked over at Brooklyn.

Avery looked down at her phone and tried to ignore the messages that were coming through. She didn't want to think about work for the next few days. She needed some time off, and she wanted to make the most of it. She stood back and waited for her name to be called at the local coffee shop, but she wasn't expecting someone else to grab the cup before she could. "Oh, I'm sorry... I think you might have my drink."

Avery looked around the crowded shop and stepped closer to Freddie. Crowds were hard, but she wanted to try to enjoy the day out with him. "What did you say we were looking for again?" She couldn't remember, but she wanted to be helpful.

"Wine or something else?" Avery asked with a smile. She wanted to have a small girls day while Henry was out. She wanted things to be normal as much as they could be. She wasn't sure if Brooklyn would want to watch holiday movies and talk about everything that's been happening, but she wanted to start trying to work things out with people. "I made some cookies earlier too."

Running into her old co-workers was going to happen, but Avery still wasn't sure what to say to most of them. She was sure there had been plenty of gossip about what had happened when it got out she was no longer working at the hospital. "Uh... Hey Jo, I think you dropped your id." She held out the license with a smile. "Thought you'd want it back."
