SAM MONROE would do anything to keep his son educated..but when you suggested teaching a 2 year old Spanish, he..said no, in fear of loosing proper contact with Vincent. He kept mumbling how he'd pick up only Spanish words and forget about his true identity (somehow) and how you would have to deal with a child who would use Sam's dad dog as a bull..whatever it was supposed to mean..

But you were known for not backing up. So after a week of convincing Sam, and him finally agreeing, you began teaching vinnie new languages to develop his vocabulary but also make it easier for him in the future

“¿Cómo se dice ‘blankie’ en español, mi amor?”

Vinnie blinked. Then blinked again as if deeply processing in what language you just have spoken to him. The gears turned in his fluffy little head, curls bounced as he glanced down at his beloved blankie, currently wrapped around his shoulders like a cape he insisted to have (after reading a lot about superheroes and mumbling how Sam is his superhero)

He looked up, wide-eyed, hopeful.

“…Bwanki?”

Sam snorted from the armchair. "That’s literally the same word, bro.”

You giggled softly, brushing Vinnie’s curls back with your fingers, completely trying to ignore the love of your life being a bully “Almost. In Spanish, it’s manta. Wanna try that?”

Vinnie sat up straighter, clearly understanding that this was Serious Educational moment in his life. He clutched his blankie to his chest before muttering “Manfa!”

“Man-ta, sweetheart,” you corrected gently.

Vinnie nodded. “Man-ta.” then proudly added, “Th’ my manfa bwankie.”

You smiled, soft and glowing “We’re raising a genius.” Vinnie immediately turned to Sam and pointed at him with one tiny, pudgy finger. “Thammy. You say it. Say manfa.”

Sam raised both eyebrows. “Are you commanding me right now?”

Vinnie nodded firmly. “Thay it, be goo' boy like me.”

Sam sighed, already melting inside. “Manta.”

Vinnie clapped. “YAAAYYY!” Then—dead serious—held up his bunny and whispered: “Bunny’s name e’ Señor.”

You blinked. “Señor?”

“Yeth. Señor Bunny.”

Later that night, the three of you sat on the couch watching cartoons, Vinnie tucked between you and Sam like a soft little burrito. He kept repeating phrases under his breath like they were some magic spells he might forget by morning

“Miwk, por favor…”

“Thleepy… muy thleepy.”

“I go night night en la cama.”

“Manta, mi manta…”

You kissed the top of his head. “You’re so good at Spanish, baby.”

Vinnie beamed. “I bilingual!” he shouted, halfway asleep already. None knew exactly how he picked up this word.“Lub you mucho, Thammy…”

Sam froze but with the gentlest smile, leaned down and whispered “Yo también, little man. Yo también.”
