A legato list

I came across a great quote from Mahmoud Darwish this week: “Coffee should not be drunk in a hurry. It is the sister of time, and should be sipped slowly, slowly.”

I love the idea of things that suggest their own mode of appreciation — things that should be done legato vs staccato.

Like my autistic traits... I sometimes don't get them... I wanna make a list of them. So I can understand myself a bit better.

My Autism Traits

I sometimes rock back and forth. But that rarely happens. Like... I am bored, and my body needs to release some steam. Instead of drawing or being on my phone. I'll rock back and forth. Like... right now.

I will shake my hands when I need to stim! Or... I am scared and freaking. Lol

I sometimes ball up my hands like a fist. And my hands will get sweaty. I don't like them sweaty... But I can't help it.

I will always look down when I walk. At home, it is safe. But in the outside world. It can be dangerous. So, I need to remind myself or my family needs to remind myself to look straight forward. But for some reason, I feel uncomfortable just to look at people when I do it.

I talk to myself. It's a very common thing. Each time I talk to myself. I'll create new worlds in my head. And they are always TF2-related. Fun Fact! Some of my OCs came from me just talking to myself.

Running or walking uncontrollably. Like I'll just bust out running out of nowhere. It just feels right. Sometimes, I have an energy in me to point out that it feels uncomfortable, so I need to start running. Sometimes, I'll even talk to myself.

I'll sometimes talk way too much and too loud. That's something I feel ashamed about. I'll always think that I am just annoying to people when I do that.

I'll flinch out of nowhere. It feels uncontrollable, too. I can sometimes sense the flinch about to come. And I just need to accept. It doesn't often happen. So I am okay. I called them glitches. Because each time I flinch, I'll feel like a robot glitching.

Tbh... I never noticed some of them until I went to a school for people with special needs when I was younger. And I would look at the students with autism and they'll do similar things that I did.
