“Ūnus… Duo…” With each count, a book is placed gently on the table in front of her. “Trēs— and a little extra treat I recently translated, it is not much but it is some documentation of Roman frescoes depicting sirens and the myths attached to them.” Ira offers a tight lipped smile, there’s pride hidden just beneath their surface threatening to burst forward. “Tell me, is it a paper you need these for?” // for modern nami :pleading:
The absolute treasure trove of history and information placed before her is not lost on Nami, who watched wide eyed and with lips parting in quiet awe. This grows into a smile as the archivist describes what she will be finding inside. "I think you can call it a bit more than that. Thank you so much for letting me look at all of these." She hadn't known what to expect when asking to see the museum's collection on a specific subject, branching out to new sources other than her trusty library. Proven once again there really wasn't any harm in asking!
Their question brings her pause, as she looks away sheepishly. As if asking why someone would be interested in learning more on a subject hadn't crossed her mind as a normal thing to bring up until now. Surely the fact she usually did this kind of research alone didn't factor into this. "Well... It's a kind of essay..." This definitely wasn't the time to bring up, or person who would be interested in learning about, the videos she makes in her spare time on everything about mermaids. She can only imagine how many ways her own unprofessional research could be critiqued by someone who's very job involved real research.
"I'll admit, it's mostly for myself and my interests. The legends tied to the ocean found all throughout history and cultures just... fascinate me." The shell charm attached to her phone on the table rolls between painted nails, and Nami can feel her cheeks warm, knowing that there was a lot more clues to her interest just by looking at her fashion and accessories. With tucking bleach-blonde locks behind an ear she is called back to action, and a sticker-decorated notebook and colourful pens are brought out from her bag. Once the rose-tinted glasses are removed and chair moved to be comfortably nestled under the table, Nami is finally ready to pick up the top book with the utmost delicacy. She runs a hand over the cover, and before opening it, looks up in search of Ira.
"Will you be around in case I have more questions?"
