3.1 is rover's biggest character reveal and progression yet, and i've honestly enjoyed how it's been set up. aemeath, raised by past rover, has taken up her burden and emulated many of her qualities, including her flaws.
but post-amnesia rover has changed and is set to confront a major piece of her past in aemeath. looking forward to seeing how the distinction will play out between the two, and whether these changes will actually be enough to solve the problems past rover struggled with.
and it's an interesting reversal to have rover be the one reaching out to aemeath as a mark of character growth. generally it's the other way around with the child grappling with a parent set in their ways before breaking free and outgrowing them
any time i see fandom bashing rover for abandoning her humanity and the connections she made, i think about how past rover was pushed past her breaking point for so long given the frankly inhumane and herculean task of saving the world no matter the personal sacrifices and misery she had to endure, and that wiping her memories and any records of her past was essentially akin to committing suicide
aemeath keeping stuff to herself because she doesn't want to burden rover
and this being a thing she's carried since childhood
with aemeath being one of the few who's intimately known the extent of rover's suffering

i've been seeing talks about this scene where people think augusta is being silly here, even while acknowledging her political and strategic competence. i know most of this probably isn't meant to be taken seriously and is mostly for the funnies, but this is the same woman who's had to deal with constant scheming since she set foot in septimont. so my personal headcanon is that augusta is deliberately trying to get iuno to open up about who she really is
