The end especially felt like they weren’t sure Peter would be coming back, so they did what they needed to do to write him out, but then whatever contract negotiations had to happen happened and they got him for another year, so suddenly Bobby lived, which is good, but also made it feel a bit weird as a story arc.

It makes NO sense for a politician whose adult son dies as a result of his own addiction issues - in a car accident that he caused, in which two other people were hurt, one an innocent mom and one an actual kid. Victims who will test very positively with voters - to firstly do anything to increase public attention to that whole incident, to secondly not treat it as a tragic loss as a result of the scourge of addiction and a reason why people struggling with addiction and their families need more support etc etc, and thirdly to use it as an excuse to attack one specific paramedic - when everyone loves paramedics and medical personnel generally, especially after the pandemic - because she happened to be present when he died.

It's INSANE behaviour for a politician. It makes NO sense. And I hate that.

It's also pretty insane behaviour for a grieving mother, which she doesn't come across as at all, so it doesn't even read like she's so deep in her grief that she's behaving irrationally.

I like that he made the good, positive choice to confront his own grief and sadness and loss, to channel it into caring for others, and to let his anger at Bobby go.
