8 years ago I was in Palmyra, in Syria. Right before the war. I took this photo after a sandstorm and the light was magical and the silence deep. It hasn't quite been ten years since that before photo, but that's the oldest pic I have of me in my phone. 8 years had passed, over 70 lbs had been dropped over 4 of those years, and I'm still trying to figure things out.
