Hiya Tumblr. It’s been a while. I’ve been writing a book and stuff (coming Winter 2018! aaaaaahhhhh!!!!) but I’m here today to ask if you have any charity dollars to spare for our 826NYC fundraising team. Our deadline is tomorrow! I’ve been volunteering with 826NYC since 2014, and their programs bring creative writing directly to the classrooms of hundreds of NYC public school kids every year. I love the organization and the work they do.

Hey everybody! Perhaps you remember last year when I came to you all cyberhat in cyberhand and asked you to donate money to 826NYC, a non-profit center dedicated to supporting students ages 6-18 with their creative and expository writing skills. You may recall my post about a charming teachable moment between two students. Many of you donated, which was very nice of you.

Now it’s a year later and I totally forgot to sign up for this year’s pledge drive. DO NOT PUNISH 826NYC FOR MY NEGLIGENCE.

Here are some facts:

1) The need for donations does not end at midnight tonight.

2) There are many people who were more on-the-ball than me, and certainly any of them would appreciate you donating to their respective fundraisers. 

3) Anyone who messages me and says they have donated will receive a personal e-mail thanking them, containing a story of teaching and creativity TOO ADORABLE FOR PUBLIC CONSUMPTION from my decade of volunteering for 826NYC.

3a) The story probably will in fact be perfectly suitable for the public, but due to your generosity will be locked away, in an e-mail that only you receive.

3b) If you are a person I have spoken to in the past ten years, there are better-than-even odds I have already told you all of these stories, more of them than you probably strictly wanted. For you, I will make up a story. Or will I? How will you ever know?

4) Come on! Tutoring starts in just a few weeks, and these students tear through pencils like wild animals. We need all the help you can muster.
