Dexter - 7x01 - Are you...?
You taught me to never break my promises.
is finding callum necessary. is returning to him Necessary. and rayla says Yes Actually. like fuck dude
I find it interesting that we've had a few characters ask now "What happened?" (Callum, Ezran) upon touching down in Katolis, but Aanya doesn't, and instead rephrases it as, "Who is responsible for this?" It not only kickstarts Ezran's like, whole arc this season, but it also makes me think about Aanya as a source of well meaning, unintentioned escalation in his life (here, twice in 7x02, project ruby fire) rather than successfully de-escalating situations (7x03, could make an argument for 7x09).
Idk, it's just interesting that Ezran borrows more from Aanya's worldviews and ways of operating when he's an increasingly worse version of himself, being influenced by her rather than motivated (Callum takes spades of Rayla's but usually the latter) and affirms to me that like. I don't Care if arc 3 puts them together as a ship (it's not like I wouldn't love the mess) but I do think it'd be another Clauderry Lite for me where I'm like "your influences on each other and personality meshing makes me want you to break up forever" the whole time.

the reveal that Aaravos knows how to make primal stones (and that making a Moon one is so dark magic adjacent) is one of the craziest series redefining things that s7 does, tbh. Also Aaravos taking Terry and Claudia (the innocents) to the garden by henceforth using them and making them complicit, and thereby stripping them of whatever innocence remains ("i merely helped humanity mature so they could be free"). Yeah
Beginning season 7 for the pre meta rewatch, and I think in a lot of ways this is Rayla's version of Callum's sentiment in 7x05. Both scenes focus on them reaffirming what they've built and hope to continue to build, for the first time able to wholly imagine a future together. Callum is concerned here momentarily with the past, but Rayla affirms that things are different: now, she will never leave without planning on coming back, and that she'll search for him (wherever they both may be) and find him again.
Like, when Rayla first came back in 4x02, he couldn't believe it was just for him, but it was, and it always will be — and he knows that now, because she's shown him it over (4x09) and over again. And that knowledge that being together is now something they can build a life together on is precisely what he expresses in 7x05 when talking about the life he wants: "Be with you." "You're stuck with me."
And it's sweet (and satisfying growth wise) as hell
dreams and poems both being made synonymous with prophecies simultaneously?? stupendous. incredible
