I gave this homeless dude a $13.77 - 6 pack of beer today and guess what he did with it?? He dumped it out to collect a .60 cent bottle deposit on the whole thing.. talk about punch in the stomach. I like helping the homeless but this was messed up.. I know that I don't know his situation but the only thing the homeless have to pay for here are cigarettes and drugs and he had enough cans to buy cigs already. I picked him cause it is Juneteenth but I felt like this time I didn't help anyone and I could have just kept my beer..
Maybe that is selfish of me but I wanted to make his night.. I wanted to do something cool for him and ended up being a faceless lame .60 cent deed. I could have just given him .60 cents and saved myself over $13.. maybe it's a sign that I need to stop drinking like alcohol is worthless and I shouldn't see value in it?? I don't know.. all I know was I felt awesome giving it to him and then I felt like a cheap whore being used after I saw what he did with it, haha.. I mean, I won't stop giving to the homeless but I'll definitely be way more selective for now on.
