Michael and Ashton were the other two boys in their band 5 seconds of Summer. Before they had practice, they decided for you all to go to lunch at Hardy's, a diner that was the local hangout spot in town. You had been sat next to Calum and Ashton, who was rather more introverted and quiet.
Michael on the other hand, a boy with cute green eyes that matched his viridian dyed hair, was definitely the extroverted one of the group. Although he was sat between Luke and Tiff, his eyes had been glued to the upper half of your low cut long sleeved top. You offer him a smirk as he raises a brow towards you. "So...Y/N—you into guitarists?"
"Actually," you place a hand on Calum's thigh. "I'm more into bass players."
You earn a kiss on the cheek from Calum as he murmurs in your ear, "That's m'girl."
An eyeroll is sent to Calum from the green haired boy. "Well I heard guitarists finish too fast."
Michael lets out a groan as Calum kicks him under the table.
It was humorous since it didn't seem like they were very fond of one another, even though they were band mates. And what was more hilarious, was that none of them seemed to like him. He always wore a smirk that dripped cockiness, did whatever he wanted, and said whatever he'd like.
It intrigued you.
"Why don't you try finding someone single and I don't know—willing to flirt with you, Michael?" Luke hadn't touched his coke, fries untouched that he had been sharing with Tiffany. His jaw had been tightened with his lips pressed together firmly. "Or I don't know, someone that isn't dating your band mate."
Michael doesn't even glance at him before snatching his drink and taking a sip. "Mine is watered down." He spits out before handing it back, finally looking at Luke with a wolfish grin. "Thanks mate. Taste sweeter after you drink it daddy.”
Calum blurts out a laugh, Luke twisting his face. "I'm filing a retraining order against you."
Michael winks. "You really need to file a few paper to tay away from me, huh, Hemmings?"
"Fuck you, Clifford."
"As you wish."
"Looms like you flirt with everyone," I smirk at the two of them. "Here I thought I was special." That earns a snort from Michael.
Tiff feeds Luke a fry, and he sends her a small smile before looking at you.
You look away, meeting Ashton's gaze, which was suspicious and narrowed. You gulp, wondering if he saw you staring at the blonde haired man.
“I’m gonna go smoke.” You mutter and leave the booth. Calum slides out with you, agreeing that it was a good idea. He wraps his arm around your waist, the leather of his jacket cool against the bare skin of your lower waist. The bell rings, signaling your exit, and he leans against a lamppost as you light your cigarette.
“You look pretty.” He compliments, hooking his fingers through the loops of your shorts and pulling you in close. His scent of pine and smoke infiltrates your senses like a warm breeze. Those pretty brown eyes roam across your entire face. “You know that right?”
“What?” You blow the smoke away as he rubs your cheek.
“That you’re beautiful.” He smiles. And it makes your heart twist and then race like a horse.
The cigarette burns away slowly as he pulls you into a passionate kiss. You weren’t going to lie, you definitely had feelings for him, but you didn’t let yourself fall. It was nice though, his warm lips caressing yours, his warm chest pressed against your body.
When you both pull away, you couldn’t bite back a shy smile, taking another hit. He then snatches it from you with a playful demeanor. “Share some of that ciggy with me won’t you?” He winks as he exhales smoke through his nose.
You let out a laugh and wrap your arms around his. It felt nice, to be with someone like this. He looked so handsome close up, and you admired it.
Glancing over at the diner, you watch as Luke laughs at something Tiffany says before she rests her head on his shoulder. His blue hues notice yours on him, his smile fading.
“What’s going on in that pretty little mind of yours?” Calum questions, making you tear my gaze away from the blonde behind the window.
“Nothing.” You shake your head before crushing your burnt cigarette with the heel of your combats. “I’m pretty cold. Let’s go inside.”
Calum chuckles and nods, wrapping his arm once again around your waist as the two of you approach the shared booth of young adults. Tiffany had been listening to something Ashton was telling her, Michael noticing your presence instantly. Luke had his arm thrown around his girlfriend, listening in on Ashton’s convo.
After you slide in, you sip on your iced coffee, meeting Michael’s eyes once again. “I’m not gonna lie,” he leans in since he had been sat right across from you. “I was pretty damn jealous when I saw you and this nerf kissing.” He gestures to the raven haired boy who grits his teeth beside me.
“What is your problem bro?” Ashton snaps, pausing his story, then gives you a look of disgust. “She’s not even all that. There’s nothing left to imagine.”
Calum turns to his friend. “The hell did you just say man?”
“Tiffany looks appropriate. She’s well dressed and has manners.” Ashton continues before pointing to you. “Your girl is from the slums and dresses like she works on fourth street, Cal.”
His words pissed you off. Calum and Ashton had been full on bickering right now, Michael laughing at the chaos that had been caused by him. Tiffany looked downright worried, trying to stop the argument between the two, and Luke—
He was looking at you with pity.
He felt bad for you.
And you hated pity.
Slamming your hands onto the table, you gather everyone’s attention, and even some bystanders in the background. You then look at Ashton with your notorious smirk. “You know who taught me how to dress like this?” You say innocently.
“Your whore mother.”
Tiffany slaps both hands over her mouth, Michael throwing his head back and dying of laughter. Calum’s eyes widened, while Luke slightly smirks but tries his best to hold it back. And you weren’t finished. Grabbing the rest of your iced coffee, you toss it into his face, his face dripping white liquid.
Ashton freezes in shock and frozen rage before storming off. “That was too far.” Tiffany huffs out at me, her perfectly plucked brows furrowed. “It’s cold outside and he might get sick.”
“He deserved it.” Luke shrugged beside her. She glares at him but he doesn’t meet her gaze, smirking to himself as he looked down at the table.
You didn’t know why, but him saying that made you smile too.
Tiffany and Luke ended up getting into an argument, which ended up ultimately canceling their band practice. On top of that, Ashton probably didn't want to even see you or Calum at the moment anyways. You threw on your leather jacket as Calum questions you again. "Are you sure you don't want me to just take you home?"
He was so cute when he worried.
"Bree told me she's gonna pick me up," you reassure him as Michael slams his car door close. It had been raining and the downpour was absolutely insane.
"I'll wait until she gets here." He offers, being a true gentleman.
You shake your head, not wanting him to meet your friend. If he did, then this all would become to real, and you weren't sure if you were ready to embark on an entire new relationship, especially when you had the hots for his roommate.
"Can you please just calm down?" You hear Luke bark at Tiffany before their windows are fully rolled up. You wondered what their argument had been about.
"She's gonna be here any minute." You promise him and give him a quick but hearty kiss. Calum hums against your lips and nods.
"Call me as soon as she picks you up."
"I will." You nod, his fingers slipping from yours before he walks under the rain and gets soaked instantly before climbing into his car. Shoving your hands into the pockets of your leather jacket, you curse your past self for wearing shorts, the cold biting away at your bare legs.
After ten minutes, you were halfway through your cigarette when you get a text from Bree.
Bree 🍉 : Soz babe. I got in a fight at work and they called the cops. I'll lyk what happens
That crazy bitch, but hey, at least she’s pro-active.
You let out a rather large sigh and contemplate on ordering an uber. This town had been so small though, that it would cost a fortune. And you weren't willing to pay fifty bucks for a ten minute drive to your house.
The bus it was.
Luckily, there had been a stop about half a block from here. Not so luckily though, you were going to get absolutely soaked and most likely die from hyperthermia. But it was better than walking the entire three miles home.
You waited until you finished your cigarette, typing a hurried response to Bree reassuring her it was fine but she also still sucked, then bleat the front of the diner. The cold bitter substance sunk into your clothes and clung the freezing fabric to your goosebump covered skin. You let out harsh breaths and hug yourself, bracing against the treacherous weather.
Your body had been trembling. Since it was nighttime, it grew hard to navigate and see properly. The woods had been to your left, and the road to your right, the stop still another fifteen minutes away. If anything motivated you to save up for a car, it was definitely this moment.
A familiar looking Black Nissan pulls to the side of the road. It was hard to see anything at this point, you were so fucking cold. Your teeth chattered as the window rolls down, afraid it was going to be some sick perverted freak. But when your eyes meet his, your breath fades away simultaneously as relief floods your chest.
You didn't think twice, hearing the locks un-click, and using that as your signal to swing open the door and climb inside.
It smelled like mint and rainwater in here. The heater had been on at full blast which felt like heaven against your sopping wet figure. You look at Luke, who looked confused and worried. "Why the hell are you walking home in the middle of a rainstorm?" He sounded pissed. "I thought Cal—"
"My friend was supposed to pick me up," you answer for him then shrug. "She bailed.
"Some friend." He huffed, putting his car into drive with an attitude.
You shift in your seat, sending him an iced glare. "Look—she may not be the most responsibl—"
He lets out a dry laugh before jeering the wheels back onto the street. "Responsible? You could've been taken by some rapist and chopped up into taco meat. Or dragged into a sex-trafficking ring like in that one Rachel Weisz movie where they run this whole ring and fire anyone who finds out about it."He lectures, and you listen silently, because he may have had a point. And also because he looked absolutely adorable being this worried about you. "My point is, friends don't put their friends in danger. End of."
"If I didn't know any better Luke, I'd say you were worried about me."
He swallows thickly, avoiding eye contact as he murmurs, "Of course. You're dating my best mate."
"Right." You pur, puffing out your chest and leaning back in your seat, the cross hanging from his mirror swaying as he drove. "Tell me Luke, do you think I dress like a hooker?"
His knuckles turn white as they grip the steering wheel. "I don't know what you mean." His tone was plucked.
"I meannnnn," you lean forward, looking at him with curious eyes. "Do you like my outfit, Luke?" Your voice darkens.
"Is that why you and Tiff argued? Because she figured out just how much you liked my outfit?" You wished you could taste those sweet lips of his.
Luke stomps on the breaks, causing you to almost slam against the dashboard before recovering a harsh glare from the blonde. "Get the hell out _ _."
You stumbled. That hadn't been what you were expecting. Perhaps all the stolen glances you swapped, were misinterpreted, and Luke really did just love his girlfriend. And then embarrassment washes all over you when he repeats himself, reaching over and opening the door for you. "I'm not fucking kidding, _ _. Get out now." His eyes had been serious, nostrils flared and brows snapped together.
Your throat dries, nodding, as you unbuckle the seat belt and get drenched all over again. For some stupid damned reason, hot tears had stung your eyes, your breaths beginning to grow shaky once again.
You slam his door shut and hear his engine whistle as he speeds off, leaving a pile of dust for you to inhale.
Your eyes were narrowed as thunder boomed, his headlights vanishing as he rounds a corner. Instead of walking towards your house, you just stood in the same place, realizing it had all been in your stupid little head.
God—you were such a fucking idiot.
And now Calum was going to end things with you, because Luke was his friend..his roommate..and was loyal to him. You ruined everything.
A car drives towards you, then parks on the opposite side of the road. What the hell?
Luke opens his car door, slams it shut, then storms across the road to where you stood. His black hoodie and jeans had been soaked, blonde strands falling over his eyes, making him look mysterious yet beautiful. A fire lit his eyes as he approaches you. "Luke—?"
You receive no response as he closes the gap between you two.
His lips were hot in contrast to the rain, the stubble on his upper lip rubbing your lips deliciously. Everything became soft and blurred around you. His tongue tenderly swipes against your bottom lip, before nipping at it with his bottom teeth. An electric current strikes through your entire body at the sensation, his fingers grabbing the strands on the back of your head and pushing you against him.
Luke tore himself away, the rain pattering in the background, your breaths panted against one another, creating a melody.
The foggy haze in his eyes clears, his face straightening. "You can't tell anyone about this."
"I won't," you shake your head. "But—"
"That was a mistake." He tugs the strands of his hair, frustrated. "We shouldn't have done that. I love Tiffany. I love her _ _. You can’t tell her.”
What a lovely thing to hear after kissing someone. "You kissed me, Luke." You remind him, which makes him let out a groan. "And don’t worry. I won’t tell her anything.“
"Let me take you home at least." Luke mutters, but avoids his gaze. "It doesn't feel right leaving you to walk alone in the rain."
You were sure your feet had been frozen to the ground at this point. "Fine." You give in. You both walked into the car and drove to your home in silence. You didn't even thank Luke, instead just slamming his car door shut, since he refused to look at you at all anyways.
Why couldn't he just come to terms with what had just happened? It wasn't fair. You wanted to taste those lips all over again, and he was too busy regretting it to even notice how you felt. You didn’t imagine how he looked at you.
Men were such idiots.
He's so gender
