I think Quill is often mocked for having an outlaw name ,  he’s not taken seriously for endeavours that mean a lot to him   ---   and ofc it makes sense the authorities aren’t taking him seriously ,  when he’s constantly toeing the line between legal and illegal activities   ---   BUT my point is   ...   Star - Lord goes from being a name that nobody knows ,  to being a name that everybody knows .   and it’s two - fold ,  starting with how the Guardians of the Galaxy saved the world ,  and amplifying particularly when he discovers who   ---   what   ---   he is .   half - celestial ,  a literal lord of the stars .   he’s known everywhere ,  revered and admired everywhere ,  and it makes him happy because that’s all  HIM ,  it’s all  Peter Quill ,   it’s something he shaped for himself .
