Day 36: it’s not about perfect
I weighed in at 234.4 this morning. That’s 11+ lbs that I’ve lost in 36 days.
That, in itself, is a worthy accomplishment.
But I screwed up last week, and ate lunch (day 30). So I failed, right?
Technically, yes. I did fail my stated goal.Â
But you know what? I’m still here. I’m still moving forward.Â
The 47 days challenge that I put myself through wasn’t supposed to be just about the 47 days. It was supposed to be a kickstart for me to lose weight - yes, the challenge was important to me because it gave me something to focus on.Â
But I’ve lost 11+ lbs, already, which is a far more important metric than the one big frowny-face on my chart of big red Xs.Â
It still sucks that I screwed it up. But doing that was also a very liberating thing for me. I don’t feel confined to the strict form of what I was doing before. I still want to complete this in some way, and I am working on 1 meal a day still. But I’m changing when that meal is, as needed.
I ate lunch 2 days in a row this week, and skipped dinner (to the best of my ability, while avoiding blood sugar crashes and danger from that). Today, I’m skipping lunch because I expect to take my kids to dinner tonight. Tomorrow? We’ll see which I choose to do.
This isn’t about being perfect. It’s about making progress.
