46229 'Duchess of Hamilton' departs Dent, 29 October 1983. by Peter Ainsworth Via Flickr: 46229 'Duchess of Hamilton', departs Dent with 'The Cumbrian Mountain Express' of 29 October 1983. Despite hauling 14 coaches, a stop at the short station platform, was permitted during the 1980s, giving travellers time to take in the superb view down Dentdale. A fine selection of largely British cars from the era, can also be seen in the car park. 'The Duchess', as she was affectionately known at the time, is now a static exhibit at the National Railway Museum, and has been returned to her original streamlined condition.
