random kieran duffy headcanons that float around in my mind:
these r mostly happy and miscellaneous i just think abt him a lot - likes to keep his hair clean as much as he can. He doesn't wash or bathe his whole body a lot simply because he doesn't often have the opportunity but whenever he can he'll wash his hair over a bucket of water. His hair never really looks greasy at all in the game which is why i think this lol - i think if given the right circumstances (aka an environment where he doesn't have to be afraid all the time) he'd actually be a pretty confident guy, not brash or loud or anything but pretty chill and secure in himself. Most of his nervousness really does just stem from the chronic stress he's put under with the gang(s), once he feels somewhat comfortable he loosens up a lot. We see this a bit when he asks Arthur out to go fishing! - i also think his parents raised him well while they were alive and weren't abusive. He only ever talks mournfully about losing them, i don't think there's any canon hints towards them being bad people so i like to think they instilled a general sense of confidence and trust in himself in him early on, which is probably part of the reason why he still fights so hard to be alive even when life has given him nothing but suffering for the most part. He has a strong spirit - he expresses his masculinity not through aggression or a strong presence, but rather by showing care and being protective of the things he cares about (with the gang mainly the horses but in a relationship i think he'd actually quite enjoy being in a gentle caretaker role, it'd make him feel useful and providing). Sometimes this makes him feel like less of a man especially considering the other men he's around, but he for the life of him just can't pretend to be someone he's not. He has certain little things he likes to do that make him feel like a man, i think he gets those little sparks of fulfillment when he patches up a horse's injury, helps the girls carry stuff when they need it, or keeping an eye on Jack from afar when he's playing by himself. - when it's not out of necessity and instead by his own choice he enjoys being barefoot. He's not much of a spiritual guy and he doesn't think consciously about it but it makes him feel grounded and connected to the earth in some way, which instinctively makes him calmer. He also likes standing barefoot in the river while he's fishing just feeling the water on his skin, things like that reminds him that he's just as much a part of nature as the fish, trees and horses are.
