324queer21 replied to your post âanyways today I discovered that the sirens up here donât go off for...â
Everywhere I've lived (in IN) they've only gone off for warnings, was it different in your home town?
yeah, in my hometown they go off for tornado watches, and when I was in high school (I think?), they started sounding them for severe thunderstorm warnings with high wind speeds/super dangerous conditions. Iâm personally not a fan of the âgoing off for severe thunderstormsâ bc it could encourage a âboy who cried wolfâ situation imo, but I do like the âgoing off for tornado watchesâ.
I think it makes a lot of sense; tornadoes can develop fast in Iowa, since itâs in tornado alley, whereas Wisconsin (where I am currently living) and Indiana, to the best of my knowledge, arenât typically included in tornado alley. I mean, tornadoes can develop anywhere, esp in the Midwest, but the locations prone to tornadoes would probably have more precautions.
when the sirens donât go off, people die. that literally happened once when I was in high school. there was a severe thunderstorm that didnât develop into a tornado until it reached my hometown, and someone died. the sirens didnât go off (there was a computer error, was what I heard), and people didnât know the thunderstorm was severe enough to produce a tornado, and someone got killed. I remember hearing that there had been a tornado, and thinking âyeah, the weather looked like it, but the sirens didnât go off; I thought it was just a normal thunderstormâ. Â
I looked up that tornado, and yeah, it was a severe thunderstorm literally until it reached my hometown, where it first touched down and killed a guy. if the sirens had gone off when the severe thunderstorm was first spotted in the county, maybe that person could have survived.
so....yeah. that, uh, that was a real downer to end this on. sorry about that.
324queer21 replied to your post: âŚwas the shot of young Lao Shiâs ass while he...
What is this from? Iâm just distracted bc lao shi is teacher in Mandarin. (Well, can be depending on the tones.)
itâs the name of the protagâs grandfather in American Dragon: Jake Long.
yeah, itâs a pun, since Lao Shi is the one that teaches Jake how to control his dragon powers.

I assume it was supposed to be a mu but the symbol got messed up?
Yeah, thatâs what it was supposed to be :PÂ
