Employee– or Carrie, as he was known while he was alive– was raised by a single mother, who put the strain on him and pushed him towards being responsible and acting like an adult ever since childhood.

In college, he became roommates with a guy named Steven Stevenson and the two quickly bonded. After a few all-nighters studying (and drunken nights in eachother's arms), they decided to start dating.

Everything was going well until Steven got a job at Freddy’s. Well, everything was fine at first, Steven had even managed to climb up the ranks at the location he worked at, and he even shared some insider knowledge with Carrie.

... it all crashed down when, in 1977, Steven was killed by Henry Miller, after witnessing the latter kill 5 kids. The former was then knocked out, and put in a springlock suit that was to be scrapped, and thus suffered a broken jaw and a springlock failure. He was then turned into a phone guy.

However, Carrie wasnt just gonna let that happen. Overcome with hate and rage (and blackout drunk for the 50th time since Steven went missing barely two days ago), he remembered that Steven had mentioned the owners of Fredbear's to be a "weird, creepy duo".

Assuming this was a company-rivalry-fueled murder, he broke into Fredbear's to find answers. He found some sickening tapes, but nothing about Steven. He was just about to leave when he was knocked out cold.

After he awoke, he found he was in front of a weird machine (the scooper), with someone piloting it behind the glass.

He had barely enough time to curse out the sick bastard that all his organs had been forcibly removed.

... now filled with far more rage than he had before, his vengeful soul half-fused to his corpse and half-attached itself to Steven's phone head (and his memories).

He (now known as Employee) follows Steven (now known as Scott Cawthon/Phone Guy) around as a sort of half-lemon corpse and half-vengeful ghost, making sure that his boyfriend is as happy as possible in the circumstances that they are currently in.
