hello beautiful animal crossing enthusiasts!

I like you all absolutely love animal crossing. I grew up playing city folk on the wii and adore pocket camp!

so when Nintendo announced new horizons on the switch I was so excited and ever since have been looking into purchasing a switch.

however I have never played new leaf. I literally remember the day new leaf came out and how excited I was to be able to play it but all I had was my ds lite which had unfortunately died a year or two ago (probably from the the way my childhood self treated it lol).

so I looked into buying a 2dsxl and was really invested in buying one for the next one to two years and I was saving up the money to do so when they announced new horizons. the quality and animation of the new game is absolutely stunning and this plus the overall design of the switch makes for such beautiful gameplay in my opinion.

but I know that I cannot afford to purchase both the switch and the 2dsxl meaning that I need to make a decision as to which I’m going to buy. (Along with buying the games themselves which makes the purchases really not cheap!)

my main problem is mostly that I feel as if I’m missing out in something big with new leaf. not to mention I feel like a fake fan :(

I’ve heard and seen so many amazing things about the game and it upsets me to not be able to play it. But I know if I am not able to play new horizons I’ll be crushed.

please can someone give me some advice as to which system is better and which you yourself would choose given my circumstances.
