I picked this one because I also happened to reread it this year! It was a great time because I found myself more appreciative specifically for Matthias’s arc. I am a sucker for map end papers, and the blood red aesthetic is so gorgeous. If they’re making one for Crooked Kingdom, I will most definitely get that, too, and die.

I’ve read a lot of graphic novels this year, which is why my reading challenge number is so high, and this is the one that comes out on top. It is so quiet and soft, with a beautiful art style to match. It genuinely made me happy. I’m so glad for this book, and I will come back to reread it in the future.

I had so much fun revisiting this series (despite the pain it inevitably brought or the terrible audiobooks). I read the first book before I started this blog (!!!!), and it’s pretty much all I ever talk about (I make nonstop annoying meme posts for this series). Kelsea is one of my all time favorite characters, and she’s what makes these books so great. There’s so much to love and to say that I can’t possibly fit them all in this one caption. I just LOVE this series.

June/July was booklr’s readathon season, and it was a lot of fun! Noor’s ( @heretherebebooks ) #Goatathon came at the perfect time and really pushed me to read more (and essentially get me out of my slump). Then Beth ( @bibliophilicwitch ) hosted #Bookwyrm Readathon that kept my momentum going! And of course, I wanted to host one, too (#copycat), with #Continuathon, all about reading the next book in the series. Out of all the books I read, The Heart Forger by Rin Chupeco (sequel to The Bone Witch) was the standout book. It made me laugh, cry, panic, and feel all the emotions in between. This post is basically just my love letter to Carrie @bookcub . I’m also not going to be talking about any specific post. I just wanted to highlight her recommendations posts because they’re always full of great books. Her series rating books against a popular title is a blast! and funny, and I can imagine the amount of work that went into all of them. I can’t even make one (1) recs post, and she’s out here doing the lord’s work. Beyond that, I think Carrie is one of Booklr’s best because she genuinely enjoys talking about and sharing love for books. Her presence is always a bright spot. Carrie, I appreciate you a whole lot lmao. Thanks for making this place fun and welcoming (and for recommending In Other Lands so hard that I had to pick it up). 💜 🖤

At the beginning of the year I made some bookmarks, which I thought turned out really cute. It was fun doing papercrafts, but I had to stop because I couldn’t sit still long enough to make more. Then during my recovery months, I tried painting on messed up “polaroids” of mine. Of course, I had to start with the Tearling Trilogy covers 😂 (also not pictured: I tested this out by painting the TFIOS cover with “Okay? Okay.” turned out great imo) My favorite of the three is Invasion! Then I painted The Diviners cover, which was fun since I got to use my gold paint. I also tried papercrafting on the “polaroids” and took the iconic letter from Persuasion, so now I can carry that with me everywhere! I might keep painting on “polaroids” because I have so many that didn’t develop properly, but I’d need ideas for covers to do. I’m also not very good at painting lmao
