24x16 was a weird episode. I’m not sure they handled all the topics they were trying to explore as well as they could have. I did like the trial scenes Carisi rarely leans into theatrics, but this time it worked, and it was necessary. Still, the case itself was strange, and while the outcome wasn’t perfect, it was probably the best they could get.
On another note, I’m not sure how I feel about Churlish. I think I’m noticing a pattern, I’m struggling to connect with all these new characters. Maybe it’s the writing. The characters introduced after Stabler left, Amaro, Rollins, Barba, and Carisi, felt much more impactful from the start. Heck, Barba became a fan favorite ADA almost instantly.
Some might say Carisi started off bland, but the writers gave him depth and a certain charm that slowly won the audience over. These new characters, imo, don’t seem to have that spark.
