#2019 reading

Every year I make a list of books I’d like to read and it usually grows throughout the year if I get recs from people. My list this year was 15 books long and I read 9 of them:

I exceeded my book goal for the year! It’s nice to have the last two weeks of the year off to catch up on some reading. Didn’t read everything on the Read Harder Challenge list--there were just too many other books I wanted to read this year!

I’ll do another post later about the Challenge books I read, my top books of the year, and goals for 2020, which are pretty similar to this year’s goals. More to come...

(The goal with this book was to have it be something I read in bits and pieces over the year, but that didn’t really happen. It’s an interesting read, but a slow one. I’m not sure if I’ll continue it in 2020.)

I love Catcher in the Rye soooo much. One of my major personal traumas (lol) was finding out people thought it was disconnected and unrelatable and whiny... and i was like... but.... do u not know pathos

I saw the days of the year stretching ahead like a series of bright, white boxes, and separating one box from another was sleep, like a black shade. Only for me, the long perspective of shades that set off one box from the next had suddenly snapped up, and I could see day after day after day glaring ahead of me like a white, broad, infinitely desolate avenue.

16. What is the most over-hyped book you read this year? Hmmm. Maybe 99 Percent Mine by Sally Thorne? Her first book was super hyped, mostly for correct reasons, and this sophomore book was alright, but didn’t live up to expectations.

The hyped book I read this year that deserves ALLLLL the hype and then some is Red, White and Royal Blue. That book is amazing and I love love love it. (I own it on Kindle and in paperback. Sooooo good.24. Did you DNF anything? Why? I dnf’ed a couple of books, mainly bc they just weren’t doing anything for me. I couldn’t see any plot or conflict, or the characters’ voices weren’t distinct enough.
