a year of movies
076. 12 Years a Slave ★★★★★
I didn't have too many complaints about this movie. For the most part, it was accurate to what could have happened. It is very graphic and does not leave much to the imagination, but that was what a movie like this needed. Too many movies just skirt around issues. This one addresses it head on.
077. Django Unchained ★★★★☆
So being a Quentin Tarantino movie I should have expected nothing but blood and explosions, which I kind of did. But there were some glaring inaccuracies in this movie that, as a history major, stuck out like a sore thumb. Did I enjoy it? Sure. Would I watch it again? Yes. But I would have to keep reminding myself that it's a piece of fiction and not even close to being based on a true story.
078. Frozen ★★★★★
Disney movies are just a weakness for me and I truly enjoyed this one as well. What I really liked is that it moved away from the boy and girl love story that so many Disney movies have been and focused on the relationship between the sisters. Yes, there was a love story in the background, but everything was motivated by sisterly love.
079. Red ★★★★☆
So basically this movie was on my TV and I just didn't turn it off. I knew that the second one had just come out and so I kind of wanted to see the first one. It was pretty funny and enjoyable, but I don't know if I would really want to own it or even seen it again.
080. Christmas on the Bayou ★★★☆☆
This movie was pretty cute, as far as Christmas movies go. Eventually with Christmas movies just start repeating plots because there's nothing left to do, or so it seems. Girl has child and goes home only to fall in love with the town again and a former crush. Nothing new there at all. Although I did enjoy the mini reunion of some One Tree Hill cast members.
081. Thor: The Dark World ★★★★★
I don't know why I love Marvel movies as much as I do, but I do. And this one was certainly not a let down. The ending was a little predictable, but at the same time I think I would have been a little upset if it hadn't ended that way. I certainly would see it again and it will be being added to my collection.
082. Saving Mr. Banks ★★★★★
I don't know if I could say enough good things about this movie to do it justice. Of course, it's a Disney movie that actually has Walt Disney as a character; I was pretty much in heaven just knowing that. But the style and the way that both stories unfolded was so amazing and so well done that I couldn't look away from the screen. I'll certainly be seeing it again.
083. The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug ★★★★★
So I pretty much fell in love with this movie very quickly and it was the perfect movie to be the last for 2013. I know that people are complaining that they added stuff, but they had to for it to be three films. I don't really have a complaint one way or the other because I was pretty much mesmerized throughout the entire movie. And I can't wait for the third one and to be able to own them all on DVD!

073. Copperhead ★★★★★
I'm so in love with history and the Civil War that when this movie got brought up to me I had to see it. And I can't wait until I can buy the movie. It explores a side of the war that most movies, Hollywood or Independents, don't. It doesn't focus on the Unior of the Confederate troops. It focuses on how the war affected communities and people still had home. Amazing and moving, truly.
074. Perks of Being a Wallflower ★★★★★
I was hesitant to watch this at first because I love Emma so much that I didn't want anything to ruin that for me. But I'm so happy that I did finally watch it. I have such a thing for independent films that it's kind of insane. And this is certainly up on the top of my list of amazing movies.
075. Scooby-Doo: Mask of the Blue Falcon ★★★☆☆
I grew up watching old episodes of the original Scooby-Doo show and rarely does anything new come close to being as good. I certainly enjoyed moments and the way the movie essentially made fun of the people who go insane about Comic Cons. But it could have been better.
