James!! Thank you once again for the ask and your interest in ruca 🥹🫶🏻 Here’s about 369 words of my hostage fic. This follows directly after this little snippet here. Enjoy!
The shock must have shown on his face, because a warm hand on Luca’s arm pulls him out of his reverie. He turns to find Street watching him, worry in his gaze.
“You okay?” Street asks, voice gentler now.
“Hey, you don’t have to tell us anything,” Powell adds, her tone suddenly more serious. “We were just messing around. Feel free to tell us to mind our own business.”
“Yeah, man. Just…whatever it is though, we’re here for you.” Tan says, voice steady.
Luca swallows, his throat suddenly tight, chest filling with gratitude. These are his teammates. His family. And they have his back—always.
He doesn’t know why he’d been so worried about telling them. Sure, they’ll give him a lot of shit once they find out about him and Rocker, but he also knows they’ll be happy for him…for them. He needs to talk to Rocker first though. It isn't just his decision anymore.
Still, sharing a little won’t hurt.
“So…I am seeing someone,” he says, the words careful but grounded. “And it's pretty serious. I think—I think they’re the one.”
The statement hangs in the air. Street, Tan, and Powell glance at each other before Streets speaks up, almost protective. “Do we get to meet this woman?”
Luca hesitates, considering his next words.
Stunned silence follows before Street clears his throat and grins. “Well, same question. When do we meet this guy?”
Tan and Powell nod in agreement.
Luca chuckles at their easy acceptance, feeling foolish for holding himself back this long and for being so apprehensive about sharing this with them. “I need to talk to him about it. But hopefully soon.”
“He’s not in the closet, is he?” Tan asks, his expression searching. “Because you deserve more than that, Luca.”
“No, no. It’s not that,” Luca hurries to explain.
“He make you happy?” Powell asks seriously, crossing her arms.
Luca feels his face shift, his smile breaking through before he can stop it. Judging by the looks on their faces, they catch the meaning loud and clear. “Yeah. He does.”
Tan grins and steps forward, clapping him on the shoulder. “Then we’re happy for you, man.”
