Bombylius minor by Paul Quellin Via Flickr: Heath Bee Fly. I don't know many folk who could do this, but a very clever Dipterist I know seems to be able to get creatures like the Heath Bee fly to sit placidly on his hand. These are amazing little creatures and I struggle to get good images of them, as they aren't very good at staying still even momentarily (unless Steve comes along). They parasitise burrowing bees, they look a little like a small bumble bee, sound like a mosquito and feed almost like a humming bird.
