Sydney your fucking tags on my post πππ
Okay I went way too far with this so it's under a cut. I'm just SAD and FEELING THINGS.
Listen, I get too emotional when I sit and ACTUALLY think about what Becky really did to Charlotte. Bc Charlotte showed up to Smackdown, and there was Becky. Her best friend. Her rival. Who she hadn't seen in so long. And Charlotte could see her again. Would be with her almost every day. And she thought "Maybe this is a fresh start..maybe I could be better. Maybe we could be better..together" And then..they did. And they were. And Charlotte looked at Becky, and she just knew that it was all worth it. Being good put shackles on you. It held you back sometimes. You couldn't always be on top. Couldn't always get your way.
But, God. If Charlotte was good? Maybe she wouldn't always be on top. But she could always have Becky. And that was worth it. Becky was worth all the sacrifices in the world. And being with Becky? Charlotte was happier than she had ever been in her life. She looked around and saw everything around her. Becky by her side. Title in her arms. Both of them surrounded by friendship and love. And Charlotte finally felt hope. She finally believed. Good things happen to good people. Good people are rewarded for being good.
Then...she lost her title. Then she lost the rematch. Then she needed surgery. Which meant time away from the WWE and time away from Becky.
But she came back with hope. Knowing that it could all be solved. She could get her title back. And she could be by Becky's side again. Even though she had to beat Becky for the title, it would all be okay. She could have everything. Because good people deserve everything. They get to have everything. Don't they?
And she wins the title. And Becky is in her arms. And everything is beautiful and good in Charlotte's life. Then, Becky attacks her. Charlotte stumbles backstage hurt and confused. Looks everywhere for Becky, but she's gone.
She shows up to Smackdown and Becky hates her. Never wants to be with her again. The person who taught Charlotte how to be good again. The person who made being good worth it. Made being good worth everything. Hates Charlotte's guts. And Charlotte...did nothing wrong. She won clean. She did everything by the book but Becky won't even speak to her unless it's to tell Charlotte how much she hates her.
But Charlotte keeps hoping. Because that's all she's got. If she just waits. And waits. Then, Becky will come back. Charlotte knows it. Good people get good things. And Becky is the best good thing of all. Becky will come back. Charlotte just has to be good. Be the person that won Becky over when she first came to Smackdown. So Charlotte is good. And Charlotte waits. Because Becky is worth it. Worth everything.
Then, Becky is injured. And Becky chooses Charlotte as her replacement. And Becky is in her arms. For the first time since the morning of Summerslam. And God, Charlotte is so glad she was right. She's so glad she stayed good. Because Becky came back. Just like Charlotte knew she would. Good people get good things.
But, now, Charlotte has to fight Ronda for Becky. Win for Becky. She has to do this for Becky. And she'll go to any length. Becky needs this. Deserves this. And Charlotte can give it to her. That's how Charlotte can win her back. That's how Charlotte can be good enough.
So, when Charlotte feels that seed of doubt during the match. Thinks maybe she can't beat Ronda. She goes ballistic. She's desperate. She can't lose because that means losing Becky again. So she thinks if she can't beat Ronda Rousey then she is going to BEAT Ronda Rousey. Just like she knows Becky would. And this is how she gets Becky again.
She shows up on Smackdown proud and glowing. Bragging about how she did all of this for Becky. And she knows THIS is going to be their time. Knows Becky is coming back. Yeah, Charlotte went off the books and got disqualified. Yeah maybe it's not good to batter someone with a kendo stick unprovoked. But it's good to do these things FOR Becky. If it's FOR Becky, then it has to be GOOD.
And, then? Her world is shattered. Becky returns again and suddenly? With no explanation...she hates Charlotte again? Everything Charlotte did...changed nothing? Their hug meant nothing? There's a flicker of doubt now. Charlotte is good. Good people get good things. But Charlotte has nothing. And, slowly, resentment starts to build.
And it gets worse and worse. Builds and builds. Charlotte keeps trying but there's nothing from Becky. No response. And Charlotte can feel herself starting to slip. She can feel the cracks emerging. She can feel herself breaking. Then, she loses at TLC.
And Becky has the audacity to move on. To shift her attention to Asuka. To not care about Charlotte at all. To not pay her a sliver of attention. She doesn't get to move on from this. Not when Charlotte is being torn apart from the inside. Not when Charlotte's cant let this go.
So if Becky thinks she can leave Charlotte behind she's got another thing coming. On Rumble night Becky is winning her title back but Charlotte Flair is winning the Royal Rumble. And if good people don't get good things? If Charlotte can't have Becky? Then, she's damn well taking that title from her. Because Charlotte deserves SOMETHING. She deserves something after being good for YEARS.
But things dont go to plan. Becky loses. She enters the Rumble. And Becky steals Charlotte's win. Then, she challenges Ronda. And now it's even worse. Everything is about Ronda and Becky. Ronda. Becky. Ronda and Becky. And Charlotte has nothing. Charlotte is alone and broken and furious.
Charlotte doesn't have the title. She doesn't have Becky. And good people don't get good things. So, she'll be bad. Because maybe if she's her old self, then seeing Becky won't be this painful. Won't make her feel this broken. So she tries to be her old self. But the mask doesn't really fit anymore. Because she can't quite push the pain of loving Becky this much away.
Charlotte Flair is broken. And devastated. And depressed. And desperate. And furious. But she's not good. Never good. Never again.
