MILFORD - The Milford and Plymouth football teams entered Friday's contest with similar offensive numbers, similar point differentials, and identical records. Therefore, it wasn't much of a surprise that the two squads found themselves in a one-possession game for the entirety of this win-and-you're-in contest. A Teagan Vitali touchdown midway through the fourth quarter gave Milford a brief lead. However, Plymouth answered back with what turned out to be a 60-yard, game-winning touchdown - helping the Bobcats (7-2) secure a Division II playoff berth with a 14-12 victory over the Spartans (6-3), who are still on the postseason bubble and hoping for help around the division. Milford took six minutes off the clock to open the fourth quarter, capping its 53-yard drive with the Vitali touchdown to take a five-point lead. Unfortunately for the Spartans, Plymouth answered back two plays later, as Garrett Macomber broke multiple tackles for a 60-yard score, giving Plymouth a two-point advantage. The Spartans still had five minutes on the clock to convert a game-winning drive, and the running game quickly picked up 25 yards. Plymouth fends off Milford, 14-12

NASHUA – Considering the Pinkerton Academy and Bishop Guertin High School girls lacrosse teams are atop the Division I standings, it wasn’t much of a surprise that they played so evenly Tuesday night at Stellos Stadium. But for a game highlighted by scoring, it was a late defensive stand by the Astros that sealed the Cardinals fate, as Bishop Guertin fell 14-12. The game was an example of a back-and-forth affair, as the two teams traded goals for much of the first half. In fact, neither team held more than a one-goal lead through the first 18 minutes of action. A Pinkerton run at the end of the first half gave the visiting squad a five-goal lead heading into halftime, but the Cardinals responded in the second, quickly cutting that deficit to two. As the rain began to fall, the scoring became more infrequent, but the Astros still managed to extend their lead back up to five with about nine minutes remaining. As Pinkerton attempted to kill the clock, the Cardinals took advantage of some sloppy passes, scoring three unanswered goals (from Carol Boudreau, Kate Lupo and Erica Chareth) to once again get within a pair. The Panthers, down 8-3 after one period, rallied to even their record at 2-2 thanks in part to five goals and two assists from Collin Morrow and four goals and two assists from Steve Saucier. Also contributing to the South win were Shane Puleo (two goals, three assists), Zach Anzel (two goals) and Dylan Gamache (a goal). Panther goalie Brian McKinley had 12 saves, five in the critical fourth quarter. Max Osgood won six faceoffs and 12 ground ball pickups. The Tomahawks (1-2) were led by Matt Coburn’s four goals and three from Matt Brewster. Connor Cyr (two goals, one assist), Pierre Watt (goal, assist), John Tiano and Jake Fortin (one goal apiece) also helped out. Nashua South rallies past Merrimack, 14-12
