“Glass house huh? I guess there won’t be anyone casting stones tonight …am i right?”  A laugh escaped your lips at your not so funny joke. The crowd of 5 turning around to stare at you with unamused eyes. A large glass house surrounded by a black mass of thick oak trees stood before you, lights already on within the translucent walls. Words written in what could only be thought of as latin adorned each glass panel to each floor  and small metal like plates separated each window. The stairs were thin but sturdy, leading up to the lead door with a cog similar to a bank vault on it. You walked up to the front door with a key that had been attached to the original invitation, looking like something out of the 15th century, you pressed forward placing the key in the lock. The key sinking into the lock and wheels on the door slowly turning, the lights on the top floor ignited as the pendulum on the cog began to swing and the door slowly opening behind it. “Three floors for a glass house… they must have thought the higher the floor then their neighbors won’t be able to see them fuck..haha”

I feel soo bad for Kathy in Thir13en Ghost.

First, she loses her mum at such a young age in a house fire! One of the most painful deaths one can experience is fire. And from the visions we see from Dennis, it’s clear Jean was in pain when she died. So there’s that pain of knowing her mum suffered a very painful death.

Secondly, she essentially takes the role as caretaker of the house now that Jean’s gone. She reminds Arthur in the morning to hurry so he doesn’t miss his first class, cooks for everyone in the apartment and scolds her hand in the process. And Kathy shouldn’t be doing that! Arthur literally hired Maggie to do that, and Maggie is sitting with Bobby not doing shit and even calling Kathy a bitch. I know Kathy says Maggie’s cooking isn’t great, but surely there has to be some meal she can cook that is tolerable. Arthur is already in a financially bad situation, paying Maggie when she doesn’t really do much isn’t a wise choice. And how she gets called a slut by her own brother?! And she’s clearly worried about their credit when Arthur mentions the lawyer. Being the oldest sibling sucks!😭

Third of all, her brother goes missing in this unfamiliar and odd house! Even though he was in Maggie’s care, she loses Bobby and now they all have to go on a man hunt for him. The poor lass is constantly stressing over these people.☹️ It honestly feels like she has to be the one taking care of everyone.

Quite a sad part is that despite being Bobby’s older sister, Maggie and Bobby interact more with one another than Kathy and Bobby interact the whole movie! Plus Maggie and Bobby get along more better it seems than Kathy and Bobby does, which is honestly sad since the first scene of Kathy and Bobby, they get along really well.

Then once in the basement she gets attacked by the jackal!!!! Worse thing is, Arthur can’t even see him and so he’s obviously very confused at first so he delays from saving Kathy because he’s soo shocked seeing his daughter get dragged by an invisible force unaware of the ghost dragging her. And the jackal is absolutely violent towards her! Ripping at her and holding her up high and then when Kalina and Arthur are dragging her away to safety, she sees him still chasing her. The dread she must’ve felt! Scared in case the jackal caught up to her, having to just rely on Arthur and this random woman she doesn’t know! She’s also in a very vulnerable position as this is happening, making it even worse.

Soon after this attack, she gets kidnapped!!!! Kathy is tied up in a middle of a machine and although terrified herself, she still tries to comfort her little brother because he’s soo scared and he’s calling out to their dad nonstop! Also the part that they watch Cyrus get torn apart in front of them, soon after that, she has to watch her dad make a life threatening leap to get to them, knowing that there’s a big chance he could meet the same fate as Cyrus if he jumps too late or too soon. And then, the house explodes!

This poor girl does not have it easy!!!

When you receive a mysterious invitation to stay overnight at a haunted house for 5 million dollars, you gladly accepted the offer. Except you only thought this was a hoax. Easy money, or so you thought but when run in with multiple and furious ghost cross your path, who will survive the night...?

If Dennis Lived In The Movie

💔👓 In this scenario for Dennis to live and for Arthur and him to form a deeper relationship, I’d imagine during the scene where Arthur and Dennis get cornered by the Hammer and then Juggernaut, Arthur would probably be yelling at Dennis and telling him that if he helps him find his kids and survive this whole situation, he can live with a reason to like himself and use his powers for good and benefit people in a good way.

💔👓While doing this, he’d probably drag Dennis in behind the glass - also, when rewatching the movie to write this, Dennis could’ve gone behind that glass! Kinda like a Rose and Jack with the door situation from Titanic, but Dennis did give up his life willingly for Arthur, so. But in this version, Arthur isn’t tolerating this - he’s a teacher, he doesn’t accept this mindset, so Dennis luckily lives.

💔👓♋️Jean will still show up to see Arthur, and I could see Dennis take this opportunity to apologise to her for helping Cyrus capture her. I feel Jean would accept this apology, as well as a bright side to all of this, she got to see her family one more time before departing for good. And so she’d probably just smile and nod at him to signal she understands and he’s forgiven.

💔👓But Arthur’s little crying moment is cut short by Dennis thanking him for saving him and promises that if he survives, he’ll try and find a way to use his powers for good.

💔👓Probably be a very slow burn relationship. After all, Dennis literally helped Cyrus capture Arthur’s wife’s spirit and lock her in a glass basement for many months. And though in this version Jean does forgive Dennis, Arthur may not be too willing at first, it’s a really messed up thing Dennis did.

💔👓Also the fact that Arthur did really love Jean and he’s only been a widow for a few months. But since Dennis did help Arthur rescue his kids, he’d probably be forgiven soon.

💔👓Arthur and Dennis get their act together and go to find Kathy and Bobby. And when they get to the machine, they’re freaked out. With Dennis’ commentary, “You got to be kidding me. THEY’RE ALL HERE! AND THE MACHINE IS REAL?!” Cue all the ghosts(besides Jean)giving him the stink eye.

💔👓When they see Cyrus, oh they are giving him Hell! I’d imagine Cyrus would actually struggle to get a word in and harm any of them since it’s two against one, as well as how Cyrus literally just traumatised Arthur and his kids for life by coming here and also keeping his nephew’s wife in a class prison downstairs. As well as how Cyrus never payed Dennis and really just used him as a tool. Both are pissed!

💔👓Nevermind that Cyrus has a sword in his cane, Arthur and Dennis are beating him up. Arthur would probably be quiet as he focuses on delivering the most brutal punishments, meanwhile Dennis is asking through stomps, “WHERE. IS. MY. GODDAM. MONEY?!”

💔👓But after the ghosts deal with Cyrus and Arthur is then stuck with trying to figure out how to save his kids without ending up like his uncle and I could see Dennis volunteering to help, with the plan being he grabs one child and Arthur takes the other. To which Arthur accepts, so when the plates settle, the both of them jump to Kathy and Bobby.

💔👓Once with the kids, they’re all going to have to huddle together to avoid the explosion of the machine, which if their lives weren’t in jeopardy would be a cute moment. But as the family rejoices surviving, Dennis is just patting Arthur and the kids on their backs, happy they all survived.

After The Main Events Of The Movie

💔👓After the machine exploded, I like to think there was still a lot of valuables left just scattered around and so they all collected as much as they could and or there was more money for the family probably kept at a bank so in the end, they didn’t come to the place just to get solely traumatised so the family is soon able to live comfortably.

💔👓Arthur eventually pays Dennis all the money back that Cyrus owed him and it feels like they may part for good. So Arthur invites Dennis to go on a walk where Arthur subtly tries to figure out where Arthur may go after the events.

💔👓After a while Dennis would catch on to what he’s trying to do and just stop and dump out his whole life story essentially, like how he’s always seen visions of people’s lives whenever he or they made physical contact, how his parents thought he was going mad and tried to get him help, how he would freak out classmates by able to recount moments in their lives, how his ‘gift’ has caused him more harm than good because it isolated him as many people thought he was a stalker and a freak. How he struggled to maintain jobs because he’d break into seizures through contact with coworkers and customers and or his surroundings and had witnessed devastating events. How Cyrus was the only person who’d be looking to be friends and work with him, but then just finding out they were just being used.

💔👓Arthur would give some words of support, saying Cyrus is gone now, and how he could try and get him a job at the school Arthur works at perhaps - Dennis rejects this. School brings back bad memories for him, even just a classroom setting is triggering.

💔👓Dennis would probably feel some type of weird joy in how Arthur and him gone through a shared experience with Cyrus’ machine, since I believe all his life, no one probably believed Dennis when he said he could sense ghosts and so he probably faced some harsh teasing. Remember that scene where he reveals his true identify and tells Arthur he used to hunt ghosts with Cyrus? His voice ever so slightly goes soft and nearly breaks, he’s probably experienced a lot of harsh bullying. So this experience now means they’re all in the same traumatised boat and he has people who believe him.

💔👓 Feel out of Arthur’s kids, Bobby and Dennis would get along the most. Because of Bobby’s macabre interest and Dennis’ history of dealing with the supernatural, I think Bobby would just flood Dennis with questions when he’s near by. “Have you seen other ghosts?”, “Do you sense ghosts here?”, “Did anyone die in our apartment?” Dennis asks Arthur to tell his son to quit it as the questions cause his ears to buzz. Kathy does sometimes try to help Dennis out, but Bobby is ever determined.

Arthur doesn’t stop him though. It keeps Bobby occupied and makes the two grow more close with one another. And although Dennis claims the questions annoy him, he likes the kid’s company and how he’s always excited to hear when Dennis answers.

💔👓For Kathy though, I actually think after spending more time with the family and seeing how much Kathy burdens herself with chores and trying to be responsible, Dennis would see her as probably having to grow up real quick to look after Bobby(as much as I love Maggie, she didn’t do shit for the Kritocis, I swear all she really did was play with Bobby and then lose him when she should’ve been looking after him. As well as how she basically called Kathy a bitch at the beginning of the movie during breakfast) so I think he’d probably tell Arthur about this stress she’s going through.

This would ultimately lead to -> TADA! The new live -in nanny - Dennis Rafkin!

💔👓Although Dennis panics a lot in the movie, he is relatively more calm - which is seen in moments where they aren’t faced with ghosts. Meanwhile Arthur does seem to have a bit of a temper, so hopefully when they hang out more, Dennis is able to calm Arthur a bit.

💔👓Both share a sense of humour they’re both very sarcastic so that’s something they can communicate with and laugh about.

💔👓I think if they were to go on a date, they’d just stay at home and watch a movie or have a meal, because I’d imagine the scenario they’d go out to a restaurant or somewhere nice and Dennis would start looking anxious and when Arthur asks him what’s up, Dennis would simply reply, “A man was killed here.” So home dates it is!

💔👓But one place they like to go and Dennis can tolerate is Dunkin’ Doughnuts, they like to go there - just not the one where a decapitated man was found at the back. Some times Bobby and Kathy come along, so it becomes a family outing sometimes and not just a date.

💔👓Words of affirmation would probably be their love language - since they bond over humour and they communicate well. Especially since they can’t really touch one another because it doesn’t impact Dennis too well.

💔👓Arthur would probably be the one calling all the shots - he’s a father so he has that coaching, protective and responsible presence. So he’s the authoritative one if that makes sense. Whatever he says, Dennis has to follow. And in general, Dennis does seem like more of a follower than a leader.

💔👓Imagine Dennis seeing Bobby swear? He would be looking at Bobby to Arthur then back to Bobby. Flabbergasted how this little punk is allowed to curse and doesn’t get punished. Probably tell Bobby not to curse though, telling him it’s mean, especially when it’s his older sister.

💔👓Dennis is younger than Arthur(nearly a twenty year age gap), so I feel he would relate more with the kids. After getting to know him more, Kathy and Bobby would warm up to him, which Arthur is really happy about. They’d really enjoy his presence and how funny he is.

💔👓Arthur likes to observe his family when happy, just watching them in such tranquil moments after everything they’ve experienced, it makes him happy. So seeing Dennis help Kathy cook, or playing games with Bobby and inviting Kathy to play as well, he loves to see it.

💔👓Arthur does express concern over Dennis when he has a seizure, so whenever he does, I think he’ll stand by to offer some verbal support since touching him would just make things worse and try and learn how to help someone who is experiencing a seizure so to help Dennis.

💔👓When telling Kathy and Bobby of the relationship, I think at first they wouldn’t be too happy about it - solely because of, ‘What about mom? Don’t you still love her?’ But after some talks, the two kids would warm up to the relationship. Dennis would never be Jean, but he makes them happy, and Jean would love that.

Like, she seemed like such an interesting character and I would’ve loved to have seen her survive with everyone. Heck, maybe she could try to free more ghosts from different places and maybe have a future time skip where Bobby trains to become a spirit liberator and is trained by her.

Hate how she was basically shown to just be a lover and servant for Cyrus. Like, she got reduced down soo badly!

Also, it’s probably due to how these two have similar features, like the short hair, the nose shape and even the eyebrows, I kinda thought Kalina and Jean shared the same actress, but turns out no. Embeth Davidtz played Kalina, Kathryn Anderson played Jean. But even if you search up Kalina on Google, one of the top images is Jean’s final scene in the movie.

This is probably one of the main problems I have with this movie. Besides the lack of screen time for the ghosts(like the movie name has the word, ‘Ghost’ in it, and besides the angry Princess you only see the other ghosts for only a few seconds), how does Kalina’s torches keep the ghosts away? And how did Cyrus figure out the technology to make the glasses to see the ghosts?
